Den sista striden
Antagligen den sista generationen som kan vara så här hypermaterialistisk. Om nu ens *den* kan det, egentligen...
Wow! Have to ponder that one. Not sure ecology gets marginalized in Gen Z and A. The greens are real, natural contact with Nature is in our very genes. True, the children are being fed materialism through the hardware of the phones and consequent corporate owners and sponsors. It's Mordor all over again! ;- Yeah, there will be a reckoning in the future.
I wonder about it too. Could it be some kind of really warped youth rebellion? Not calling yourself "feminist" in a "feminist" society is an act of defiance, no matter how misguided. Note also that many of the Swedish kids are right-wing (as opposed to the liberal values of their parents?). Many others are immigrants with materialist values (as opposed, perhaps, to the religious values of their parents?). So it could be some kind of youth rebellion/reversal/transgression. Maybe the materialism is also a reaction against all the talk about climate change, and so on? But in 2024, a rebellion based on materialism strikes me as unsustainable...
