Not sure
what to make of the New York Times suddenly revealing that a “pro-Ukrainian
group” (presumably in Russia) was behind the Nord Stream sabotage. The Alt
Right take seem to be that they want to distract from the *real* news, as in Tucker
Carlson´s J6 exposé.
Maybe.
But another
possibility is that we are dealing with a coded message of some kind. There has
been some talk lately along the lines of “Ukraine cannot win” and “the conflict
will be solved at the negotiating table”. Perhaps the NYT article is part of a
semi-secret Western campaign to “cool down” Ukraine, as the war enters its
second year with no obvious end in sight. The article itself claims that Western
interests are annoyed at Ukraine´s attacks in Crimea and inside Russian territory
proper. They also complain about Ukraine not being “transparent” about its
military actions (i.e. not telling the US everything). Note also the claim that
Ukraine, or “elements” in the Ukrainian spook community, killed Daria Dugina in
Moscow!
None of this
has any bearing on whodunnit. Of course a “pro-Ukrainian group” could have carried
out the sabotage, although it´s difficult to believe that an attack of this sort
doesn´t require a state actor. Read: probably somebody much closer to home,
yes? Even the Russians could have carried it out, for god knows what reasons – they
can sell their oil and gas to others than Germany, after all. The question,
then, isn´t who blew up the damn pipeline, but why the NYT decided to tell us
the story (true or false) at this point in time? A story that is retractable at
any moment anyway…
Intelligence suggests pro-Ukrainian group sabotaged pipelines, US officials say
