Bohemian rhapsody in outer space

This is 100% nerd Trekdom, but I just couldn´t help it.

The classical "Star Trek TNG" episode "Darmok" (which fascinated every autistic language geek in America)...dubbed to Czech! They even inflect the fantasy names in Czech.

Still, I think they miss out on Patrick Steward´s fantastic voice performance.

Never got the point of dubbing. Don´t they want to learn English? Could enhance our communications...

  1. For those who don´t know, the episode (first aired in 1991) features a race of aliens who speak in weird mythological metaphors. This apparently triggered the interest of every language nerd in the US and the UK, and was even mentioned in "serious" mainstream media. Which usually doesn´t happen with "Star Trek"...

Personally, I find it funny that this episode about language has been dubbed into other languages. But that´s me.
