Well, I disagree. Physicalism really is the most consistent atheist position. Once you allow non-reductive consciousness through the door, the Divine will re-emerge. As pantheism if your position is panpsychist. And as theism if your position is dualist. That some high brow dude said otherwise changes nothing.
On one point, the content-creator linked above is right. You *can* believe in God or gods while being a physicalist. In its explicit form, the position is unusual. From the top of my head, only the bizarre Raëlian cult has such a religion. In an implicit form, however, it seems more common. Many people who believe in aliens, the Singularity or the Simulation seem to believe in a physicalist god...
