Am I onto something here?
The Primordial Chaos - Everything before 2008. Only hazy memories of this state exist.
The Golden Age - Obama. Everyone got an I-Pod. Everyone had a Tmblr account.
The Fall - Donald Trump´s election victory and presidency.
The Deluge - COVID (punishment of the old world for its sins).
The Law - Vaccine mandates. Critical Race Theory. Web censorship.
The Redemption - Kamala Harris wins in 2024.
The Apocalypse - ?
There is even a Christ figure (George Floyd), but he curiously shows up during the "fall" phase. Or is that the redemptive sacrifice, followed by the COVID apocalypse, which will reveal Kamala Harris on the clouds? Still working on this one! Also: Jeremiah = Greta Thunberg?
Note also the widespread destruction of statues and other paraphernalia of the old world. Magical thinking? If we destroy everything associated with the primordial chaos, maybe Obama-God will somehow return?
The Trump fans also play out some kind of cultural archetypes ("the betrayed hero who will stage a comeback", etc), but this week, I´m reflecting on the other guys.
But we live in a rational age, right? We´re making progress, right? Actually, the whole world is descending into some kind of cursed medieval darkness. Except, of course, that it isn´t "medieval" at all. It seems to be the only thing that is...forever new.
