Strange new terms in this video: tachyon condensate, decaying dark matter, phantom energy, phantom crossing...
Main point: sensational new research may finally prove that the universe isn´t going to expand forever, but will stop or reverse the process at some point. Perhaps leading to a new Big Bang in the distant future. Which proves that the universe is cyclical and that the arm-chair speculations of the ancient arhants and rishis were true. OK, the video doesn´t say *that*, but you get my point.
Funniest moment in the clip is when Sabine gets a phone call from "Elon" and tells him that SpaceX rockets can´t be fueled by phantom energy, since it´s already gone! More seriously, the video is interesting and if true, we at least don´t have to worry about all our atoms disintegrating into utter nothingness trillions of years from now.
It seems our real problem is the Eternal Return. Hope the ancient rishis were right about the exit door, too!
