Some noble lies. The list is not exhaustive!

The king is a god, or appointed by a god, is the noble lie of monarchies. In reality, kings appoint themselves.

The oligarchy is actually an aristocracy is the noble lie of oligarchies. In reality, no true aristocracy exists for more than a few generations.

Everyone is equal is the noble lie of democracy. There are street-cleaners even in a democracy, and no, they will never become presidents. Stable democracies are dominated by the middle classes.

Our tribe are the only true humans is the noble lie of tribalism. In reality, your tribe are probably the savages!

All women are sisters is the noble lie of feminism. In reality, women usually support their nation, ethnic group or faith community against all the others (including their women).

Workers have no country is the noble lie of “international” socialism, which is really nationalist.

Everyone can become a Westerner, and wants to, is the noble lie of those who advocate free immigration. In reality, they simply want lower wages and salaries (or voting cattle).

Men can become women simply by an act of subjective will. Cuz reasons. The noble lie of Big Pharma and Big Shrink, who wants to sell you their latest products. 

“Our Scripture/tradition is divine” is the noble lie of religion. So is the claim that “only god can be a standard for morality”. In reality, the “revelation” and the “standard” are human, and come from self-appointed priests, who are simply after worldly power.

The noble lie of Communism is the communism.

The noble lie of trans-humanism is the trans-humanism. Ye shall be like gods, hiss...

But the most interesting noble lies are surely those of our own times.

“Climate change is real but can be stopped if we just stop using fossil fuels” is the noble lie of the far left.

“Climate change is real but can be stopped by re-cycling and electric cars” is the noble lie of the moderate left.

“Climate change is real but can be stopped by nuclear power, nuclear power and, ahem, nuclear schmucking power” is the noble lie of the centrists. (“And liquid natural gas”)

“Climate change is fake and we can continue using fossil fuels like before” is the noble lie of the conservatives, populists and fascists.

The reality is that climate change is real, that we can´t stop it, and that it will fuck over the entire world by 2100. At the latest.

And the noble lie of noble truth-telling is that human polities can stop being based on noble lies…

In reality, noble lies are forever.
