Det är förstås inte Skansens fel, men det ser onekligen märkligt ut att man skjuter vargar i fångenskap, samtidigt som man låter vargstammen i det vilda föröka sig över alla breddar, så att det snart kommer att bli livsfarligt att ta en skogspromenad...
Skjut de vilda varghelvetena istället. "Döden är en del av livet". Please!
"What religion am I" is always such a funny quiz.
I think I came out a Sikh the first time I took the test. Or was that the second time? Not even wrong, guys! For starters, I´m clean-shaven! Nor is Punjabi my first language.
This time, I´m apparently a Unitarian Universalist (to 100%), despite not living anywhere near the neighborhood of Boston. I´m also 93% New Thought, 89% Taoist (I assume they mean a really nice philosophical Taoist who prefers organic gardening to apocalyptic genocide), 84% Mahayana Buddhist (obviously an empty statement) and 83% New Age?!
The religious groups I resemble least are Mainline - Conservative Christian Protestant (23%), Seventh Day Adventist (19%) and the Jehovah´s Witnesses (13%). Not sure what those percentages even refer to!
OK, I promise to read the Wiki entry on Unitarian Universalism, but I already know I´m not 100% committed to that particular (pun intended) creed...
This week in crazy...
Even if Beethoven was Black (he wasn´t), his music was White European, not sub-Saharan African. Last time I looked, classical music wasn´t invented by Mansu Musa in Mali. Not that good ol´ Musa didn´t have some interesting features all his own - of course he did (all that gold, and all those slaves) - but as a God-fearing Muslim, I doubt symphony orchestras was one of them!
So the BLM activists (who are really hilarious here) gets it all wrong. But sure, if the only way to avoid a cancellation of Beethoven (a political radical, I believe) is to prove that he was a Moorish Octoroon, I suppose that´s a good thing somehow.
Maybe we can give his skeleton a jab of that COVID vaccine, too?

Upptrappning mellan Kina och Taiwan? Det där med halvledarna har jag bloggat om tidigare. Kina bygger medvetet upp sin kapacitet för högkvalitativa halvledare, men det sägs att fabrikerna inte kan vara i ordentlig drift förrän om tio år eller så.
Vad händer om Kina anfaller Taiwan innan dess *och taiwaneserna spränger skiten i luften*? Då kommer världsekonomin att få stora problem, även om alla snällt köper halvledare från Kina istället (d.v.s. den mindre kvalitativa versionen). Alldeles bortsett från alla andra negativa följdverkningar, regionala och globala.
Såvida inte Japan och Indien helt enkelt kapitulerar för Kina, vilket verkar betydligt mindre troligt...

"Wild Greece: Highlands and islands" is a two-part nature documentary produced by the Austrian TV network ORT. When I saw it, I was *almost* shocked. Is it just me, or do nature docus these days no longer show predation, aggression and too explicit mating? Many times, the hunter becomes the hunted, smaller animals succesfully challenge larger, and so on. Not wrong, per se, but surely a new development? Except in this one! It seems animals (of all sizes and phyla) in Greece still devour each other in good ol´ social-Darwinist fashion, not to mention some pretty agressive mating habits (or intra-species fights in general). Or at least in the highlands and on the islands...
There doesn´t seem to be any deeper point with this production (not that it must have one) except to show various spectacular Greek vistas (with not a single Greek in sight) and as many animal species as humanly possible within a two-episode format. Brace yourselves for vultures, falcons, pelicans, cormorants, all kinds of passerines...and that´s just the birds. Snakes, lizards (some of them pretty weird), moths, really scary orthopterans and allies, the inevitable feral goats, and surprisingly petit bears (well, at least they´re petit by bear standards) are some of the other highlights. And speaking of highs, they actually show Mount Olympus, the abode of the Hellenic gods according to traditional mythology. The gods are gone, but the mountain itself turns out to have more than one peak!
Another spectacular site shown is the small island of Antikythera north of Crete, mostly known for the strange "computer" salvaged there from an ancient shipwreck. The mechanism is not shown (it´s a *nature* documentary, remember?), but seeing the island, I can understand why a ship might have gotten in trouble there! Today, the most notable nature-related site on the island is a large breeding colony of fairly large falcons (the species known as Eleonora´s falcon, to be exact). Apparently, the migratory birds spend the winter in Madagascar, so perhaps a docu from that place will show them, too?
"Wild Greece" might be good for tourists who visited Greece and (of course) didn´t see any of the above, or for occasional nature documentary aficionados as yours truly, but might be considered immensely boring if, say, the trial of Socrates or the exploits of Herakles are more your thing...
Fria Tider om Lars Vilks. Oavsett vad man anser om Vilks (eller Fria Tider) är det ändå ett ganska intressant inlägg. Det finns ju en schizofreni i det svenska "liberala" etablissemanget när det gäller yttrandefrihet och islam. Jag har ofta själv undrat om "kriteriet" helt enkelt är att den kontroversielle personen tillhör innegänget. Kritisera "Sverigebilden" som outsider? Bannad. Skämta om pedofili? Helt okej om man känner kulturjournalister. Det är ju "bara" ironi. Och så vidare.
"The Scorpion King" (2002) is a somewhat frivolous fantasy flick featuring a Schwarzenegger-Van Damme cross-over look-alike, but with more tan. Small wonder, since Mathayus (as the muscular warrior is named) runs around in a desert landscape that´s supposed to be ancient Egypt, but looks more like a stereotypically Orientalist Mideast bazaar. Mathayus, who is said to be Akkadian (an ancient Semitic people), is one of the few people who *doesn´t* look Hollywood Semitic. A few East Asian types have been thrown in for good measure, too, while the bad guy, Memnon, looks like a Roman commander! Yepp, it´s fantasy, alright.
And while there is a gorgeous half-nude "sorceress" (what else?) in this production, starred by a former fashion model, most of the plot concentrates on the heavy fighting between Mathayus and faux Arabic hordes. Come to think of it, there doesn´t seem to be much else happening in "The Scorpion King" *except* sword fighting or archery?! More sword than sorcery, if you ask me. Unless you count the cobras, LOL.
The title of the film is inspired by a real Egyptian Pharaoh, simply known as Scorpion (or perhaps Scorpion II or King Scorpion), but I suspect the real guy would be somewhat surprised by this latter day barbarian reinterpretation of pre-dynastic Egyptian history. Apperently, "The Scorpion King" is also somehow a prequel to a series of mummy horror movies, but I frankly don´t understand the connection, even apart from the perhaps salient factoid that this production features no mummies! There are a few scorpions, though. (And cobras.)
That being said, I´m not saying you shouldn´t watch Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson flex his biceps, show his ware and rough up some phoney Nabateans in a sword-and-sorcery extravaganza. After all, I just did, and I´m still standing. Just don´t except any deeper insights into Sothic dating, Manethan chronology or Hamitic pre-history from this one!
Kommer givetvis inte att inträffa, eftersom Afghanistan är ett konservativt muslimskt land. Oklart om professorerna helt enkelt är korkade, eller om det hela är en täckmantel för "dra in biståndet helt" (SD) eller (raka motsasen) "återinvadera Afghanistan" (SJW).
Snart kommer väl Hübinette "outa" de stackars baserade professorerna med information av typen "NN:s farfar tillhörde på 1930-talet överklassnazistiska miljöer i Närke och hans nästkusin var medlem i Svenska Försvarsfrämjandet och Sveriges Nationella Förbund på 1950-talet, vilket bevisas av en medlemsmatrikel Lisbeth Salander snodde från dåvarande moderate riksdagsmannen Steen von van der Hekscher-Saxen, som även varit riksmarskalk åt kung Gustav V, som ju samarbetade med Verner von Heidenstam och baron Ungarn-Sternberg under finska frivilligkårernas s k härjningar i Fjärrkarelen circa 1918".
