Exoplanet K2-18b

 


Tick tock tick tock...are scientists very close to proving the existence of alien life? Probably just micro-organisms, but still. Sabine Hossenfelder suspects that they already have, but that the standards for evidence are incredibly high (and by implication unreasonable). 

Let´s hope she is right. And that the standards turn reasonable in the very near future. As in one light year. Even confirmed biosignatures of bacteria-like organisms on some obscure rock circling a red dwarf would be worth a Nobel Prize. Or at least a slightly bigger telescope...
