I´m old enough remember when the Czechs (or at least their much-vaunted intelligtentzia) accused Slovaks of being democratically unreliable rubes who always voted for pro-Russian right-wing populists in general elections.
Look who just won the Czech general elections...
Yes, it´s a pro-Russian right-wing populist. *And he actually is an ethnic Slovak*. You can´t make this up. Nor is it the first time he wins.

Populist party wins Czech parliamentary elections
A bit in-house, but in case you didn´t get it (you didn´t), the party of Babis is called ANO, which literally means "Yes". Weirdly, one of his possible coalition partners is called AUTO, which literally means "car"! Apparently, a climate skeptic party...
