The simulation hypothesis is an *obvious* example of the principle "the ideas of a secular age are really the ideas of the previous religious age with the serial numbers filed off". (Big Bang cosmology is another example.) The simulation hypothesis is essentially theism for atheist nerds. If it turns out to be true, that would prove Intelligent Design and the "programmer" would be God. So be careful what you wish for, LOL.
