For a split second, you can see Santa Claus drinking a Coke. Lawsuit coming up? Probably not. Maybe the Coca-Cola Company *likes* being associated with Baaaad Santa muh-hah-hah. This is turning into some kind of strange Xmas tradition in its own right.
The problem with the Adventist approach is obvious: there is no pure and pristine "Protestant-monotheist" period in Biblical history. There were "idols" in the Jewish Temple for crying out loud! Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek, the king and high-priest of the pagan Jebusites. And supposedly a type for Christ? Who himself seems pretty "pagan" in various ways. Und so weiter.
But you knew that already. So enjoy this latest installment in the "Christian war on Christmas". And happy yuletide, I suppose.
