Overheard on YouTube: There is a speculation (speculation, I say) that viruses were originally alive, but then evolved (devolved?) into the non-living entities they are today. Thus, natural selection can turn the living into the non-living, making evolution go backwards?! Can evolution cancel itself???
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....
What makes you think virus are NOT alive MU HAH HAH
ReplyDeleteThe evolution of the undead. Is this the solution to the Zombie Problem in consciousness studies?
ReplyDeleteI assume viruses are at least semi-alive somehow.
ReplyDeleteThe occult explanation might be interesting. Are viruses monads who refuse to evolve, prefering instead to devolve into permanent parasitism on all other monads?
ReplyDeleteBut if viroligists are to be believed, plenty of viruses are in a symbiotic relationship with their hosts and co'tributed to their evolution. Perhaps they devolved as a sacrafice to aid other monads?
DeleteHmmm...yeah, maybe I should ask the friendly neighborhood Theosophist...
DeleteYou know too much, dude.
