The Assumption of Mary

  1. Still a Holy Day of Obligation in the US of A. About as believable as the Immaculate Conception. Hmmm, wonder if there's any depictions of that *event* Still, I like the *angel* pointing the way to...the Absolute All Merciful Endlessness? Or to Mary's newly constructed throne? My favorite is Henry Ossawa Tanner, an African American artist who has nicely envisaged several Gospel themes including the Annunciation. Not to discount Fra Angelico.

"The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains holy days of obligation this way:

On Sundays and other holy days of obligation, the faithful are to refrain from engaging in work or activities that hinder the worship owed to God, the joy proper to the Lord’s Day, the performance of the works of mercy, and the appropriate relaxation of mind and body.

Family needs or important social service can legitimately excuse from the obligation of Sunday rest." Unless it's on a Monday or Saturday-no obligation on those days. Sunday Mass has it covered.

Speaking of devotion and emotion: E-motion = energy motion keeps the whole durn universe rolling along. Enter Dada Sadananda once more!

So yeah, don't worry too much, the Magisterium of the church will guide you along.
