Nya avslöjanden om övergrepp skakar om kultureliten och deras läsvanor. Den här gången Alice Munro. Vilket bara bekräftar det jag sade tidigare: varför ska vi tro att en författares övergrepp (eller som i detta fall passivitet inför nära anhörigas övergrepp) *inte* färgar av sig på författarens verk? 

Men observera att kulturknutten som skrivit detta fortfarande inte kan slita sig ifrån "Motorsågsmassakern" och bestämt förnekar att den skulle vara "våldsporr". Ja, han tycker rentav av litteraturpriset till Munro var ett av de bästa?!

Det är någonting, skall vi säga, problematiskt med våra kära litteratörer...

A lot of cope in the YouTube commentary section right now as a new paper *again* disproves the existence of Dyson Spheres. The techno-freaks claim that maybe they are - wait for it - invisible. 

Yeah, so the hiddenness of God counts as evidence against God, but the hiddenness of Dyson Spheres doesn´t count as evidence against Dyson Spheres? Funny how that works.  

I think the concept of a Dyson Sphere says more about the cornucopian fever dreams of modern (human) civilization, than it does about aliens...

Det här är såklart bara en slump, men...

Samma dag som massakern i Örebro fanns två huvudnyheter att läsa på text-TV. Den ena var givetvis skolskjutningen. Den andra var att regeringen skärper kraven på de arbetslösa. 

Vi vet ännu inte vad massmördaren hade för motiv, men en spekulation har varit att han ville hämnas på socialtjänsten i Örebro. Mannen hade nämligen inte haft någon inkomst alls (!) i tio års tid, kanske för att socialen ansåg att han inte sökte jobb tillräckligt aktivt.

Det var det hela.

Indo-European ghosts

 

An interesting new theory about the peculiar nature of the Greek language in the Indo-European language family, where Greek doesn´t seem to have any close relatives (Armenian might be a very distant one). This kind of doesn´t make any sense on the traditional view of how the Indo-European languages developed. A new paper suggests a solution: the Greek language is derived from a different Proto-Indo-European ancestral population than the other Indo-European languages. 

In the classical scenario, the PIEs are identified with the Eurasian steppe culture known as Yamnaya. The paper have found genetic markers among Greeks poiting to their ancestors being a different steppe group group, a PIE "ghost population". The YouTube video above argues that this elusive people isn´t unknown at all. *They* are the Yamnaya. In this scenario, both Greeks and Armenians have partial Yamnayan ancestry and so have their respective languages. Presumably, the original Yamnaya tongue was heavily mixed with the lingos of the Neolithic farmers in the southern Balkans and the Transcaucasus.

In Europe outside the Balkans, another (nameless) Indo-European group gave rise to the Corded Ware culture, the Bell-beaker culture, and so on. Here, Neolithic farmers were more sparse, which explains why these languages have a more "pure" Indo-European character. 

Thus, the Proto-Indo-Europeans during the Copper Stone Age were already split into different groups speaking somewhat different languages or dialects. Which, I suppose, raises the question where and when the PIE language first arose (if that´s even a meaningful question).   

The content-creator (Fortress of Lugh) also speculates about what this could mean for comparative mythology. Maybe Greek mythology can´t be easily correlated with, say, Celtic mythology. He doesn´t mention Norse or Vedic mythology, but that´s another obvious conclusion. Here, however, it´s important to bear in mind that there isn´t a one-to-one correspondence between genes, language and culture (including mythology). I mean, how do you explain the similarity between the figure on the Pashupati seal and Cernunnos?

Still, it´s an interesting contribution.

Är det såklart inte. Mest bara töntigt gnäll. Men...jag kan inte låta bli att anklaga min ofrivilliga granne Aftonbladet för landsförräderi rättish ock slättish. 

De senaste dagarna har AB nämligen promoterat ungdomar á la TikTok som "tvingats göra lumpen mot sin vilja", "vägrar mönstra", et cetera. Flera är unga tjejer. Visste inte ens att vi hade kvinnlig värnplikt i Sverige?

Är det Miljöpartifalangen på AB:s redaktion som varit i farten här? LOL. Den lille stridspitten Anders Lindberg på ledarsidan måste känna sig något besvärad över detta. Nå, så vem gynnas av detta då? Ni gissade rätt: Putin. 

Var finns MUST och Säpo när man väl behöver dem? Eller rentav Sapo...
