When Russia needs new ammo and stuff, they turn to North Korea. Which some opinionated Western commentators finds extremely amusing. Not sure why, since North Korean ammo is just as deadly as South Korean.
And speaking of South Korea...
It seems the Western nations are increasingly turning to *that* nation to buy their weapon systems. They also hope that South Korea might start providing Ukraine with...I don´t know...munition?
Apparently, the ROK has established itself as one of the world´s top-ten arms providers. Reasons include fast delivery times and better terms in general. For instance, if you order weapons from South Korea, part of the order might actually be produced in your own country, creating more jobs. It´s also interesting to note that the ROK produces its own superconductors, presumably not being dependent on Taiwan to do so.
Of course, in the background lurks the fact that South Korea is presumably in an arms race with North Korea, its perennial enemy on the other side of the DMZ. Small wonder they have fast delivery times! About ten years ago, a fellow customer reviewer on Amazon told me that perhaps South Korea (or a united Korea) could "sneak up" as a great power if Russia, China and Japan are weakened and don´t pay enough attention.
Is 2024 the year when this begins in earnest?
