I actually covered this story when it first broke the web back in 2019, but then forgot about it (yes, it´s the Jesus in Nagaland tale from my previous blog post). The claim is that the CIA classified (and therefore de facto banned) a book from 1965 about the end of the world, written by one Chan Thomas. Therefore...you get the picture. 57 pages of the book were unclassified in 2013, while an additional 200+ pages are still unaccounted for. Not to mention Jesus onboard that flying saucer...
And then, maybe not. In reality, "The Adam and Eve Story" (originally published in 1963) wasn´t stopped at all. It´s always been publicly available and actually was 57 pages long when the Agency classified exactly one copy of the third edition (1965). Later, Thomas expanded the work and those versions have never been banned, either.
While nobody seems to know why the CIA confiscated that one copy, Thomas had apparently worked for a prominent defense contractor and was known for being a tad bit difficult, which may explain why some secret agent kept an eye on him. It´s also possible that the CIA was spying on ufologists. And yes, Thomas was one of those. Maybe the classified copy of "The Adam and Eve Story" was part of an otherwise unknown surveillence report?
"The Adam and Eve Story" apparently promotes the controversial idea that so-called pole shifts cause gigantic cataclysms which wipe out entire civilizations on a regular basis. I assume conspiracy theories think another one is due soon, which prompted the CIA to ban the work lest it triggers a mass panic. Except that they didn´t. And the apocalypse Chan Thomas describes in his magnum opus probably won´t happen either.
It seems we´re stuck with all the more usual apocalypses.
"It´s also possible that the CIA was spying on ufologists." FBI lär ha spionerat på George Adamski, eftersom han beskrivit de planeter som utomjordingarna sades ha kommit från som kommunistiska.
