Voluntary suffering

Can´t say I like this. Has our man "Gnowly" turned towards Gurdjieff and his rogue guru-ism?

  1. Mr. Gnowly references Gurdjieff; but it's rather Gurdjieff said he was bringing Eastern "knowledge" to the West. So Gnowly could be said to be repositing the eastern "wisdom" utilizing Gurdjieff's paradigms.
That Brahman created ALL to know "itself" (we really need a non gendered pronoun to describe IT) and the suffering of Creation is an aid to that knowing, seems bizarre; but to relieve the suffering of the Absolute is a task, if not a sacred obligation, at the heart of Gurdjieff's Work. The thing I suspect of "higher consciousness" is that it is not "entering the Garden of Eden" or some heavenly bliss, but could be a terrible realization that would entirely "freak us out" if we knew "what's happening!" Extra effort, assuming voluntary suffering, could be seen as a way of relieving the suffering of the Absolute. Then, like a breath of the Ghost, a form of Grace comes into our lives, however briefly, so that we know we have been "seen"
by the Absolute. All I know and believe is that there is *Something* out there (in here?) that wishes to communicate.

One last thing, there is really nothing I can do to invite the "Other" as if I could cause an effect of transcendent visitation. I can imagine all sorts of blissful states, but when I get whacked in the face by reality, be it benign or stressful, and put on "the alert" I suddenly am in a state of hyper awareness. Like when you realize the car has no brakes!
