The article below is written in a kind of Cold War style, but it´s still interesting to read. Apparently, South Korea has established diplomatic ties with Cuba, a long standing ally of North Korea.
The article interprets the recent North Korean declaration that unity with the south is impossible as a backhanded way to recognize South Korea. An interesting take, to be sure.
I assume that this recent move by Pyongyang made it possible for Cuba to have diplomatic relations with both Korean states. What the article doesn´t explain are the long term ramifications of the North Korean and Cuban turns. Or the South Korean one, for that matter.
