No surprise

Russian foreign policy Owls

That Putin prefers Biden as US president is hardly surprising. There is no deep mystery here, no 4D chess.

First, Putin is right that Biden´s administration is more predictable than Trump´s ditto. Or Trump himself. For instance, despite his "pro-Russian" line, Trump actually strengthened US military presence in ex-Eastern Europe. He also tried to encircle and isolate Iran, a de facto Russian ally in the Middle East. *And* he did other things pointing in the opposite direction, all the while his administration was faction-ridden with new faces every six months or so.

Above all, Putin probably sees the Biden admin as predictably weak. Which is something the liberal media doesn´t want to admit. Especially not now, when Biden´s cognitive decline has become an issue...

And why shouldn´t Putin do so? The United States withdrew from Afghanistan, can´t make India, Israel, Turkey or Hungary listen to them, and has a de facto open border to Mexico. And the US-planned and US-funded "Spring Offensive" in Ukraine last fall (?) was an abject failure. Add to that the economic crisis and crime crisis.

So please indicate again why Russia should be afraid of the United States in its present state? If Trump becomes POTUS, however, you never know if he will push the button or invite you over for a quick snack at the local fast food establishment...and perhaps then push the button?

So Joe Biden it is.
