Chomsky...again

Overheard on X. A propos our previous discussion on Chomsky. From a xweet by "Chrome Barracuda".

>>>It's ironic that tankies hate Noam Chomsky. Is it because he wasn't unequivocally pro-Stalin, pro-Mao and pro-Soviet Union?

>>>He criticised literally every American foreign policy decision for decades and was extremely pro-Assad, pro-Putin, pro-Serbia, parroting the exact same talking points that Jackson Hinkle and Pax Tube do. That's a harder position than the vast majority of American leftists.

>>>It's hypocritical to idolise the likes of Glenn Greenwald and Jimmy Dore but dismiss Chomsky as subversive. Only in his 90s did he "soften up" and endorse Biden. And even then, he made a huge fuss about how the West triggered the Ukraine war.

2025 increases

An Italian reporter has revealed something we could call "sniper tourism". Sick rich Europeans paid a lot of money 30 years ago during the siege of Sarajevo for a chance to visit the Serb-controlled parts of the city and shoot innocent Bosnian civilians for sport?!

Gas gangrene, a disease almost unheard of in Europe since World War I, is back with a vengeance in Ukraine.

Private foreign aid to the Ukrainian military has become increasingly important to bypass the rampant corruption and greed of the Ukrainian bureaucracy "distributing" the foreign aid (really pocketing it).

Zucc´s Meta apparently earned 16 billion dollars in 2024 on fake ads (as in "ads" for various scams).

Venezuela is mobilizing its military.

Trump...Epstein...something-something.

A completely ordinary day on planet Earth, 12 November, 2025. For all I know, it won´t get better either! Hang in there.

Invasion of the pestiferous Jesii

An one-hour video featuring various religious figures claiming to be Jesus (or something to that effect). Or in one case claiming that *another* guy is the Messiah (who isn´t even in on the show). Geezus! Most of the people featured are cult leaders or just plain insane, but a few more intriguing characters have been included.

For instance, an American faith-healer and evangelist starring the Christ in a play, adressing a huge crowd in Kenya in his Jesus attire. The Internet trolls were soon all over the situation, claiming that the Savior had appeared in the East African nation. There is also the story of a psychiatrist who placed three mental patients who each claimed to be Jesus in the same room as an experiment. Or what about the Jesus who ran for mayor of Tokyo? Note also that some women have claimed or been proclaimed "Jesus"...

I admit that I probably would have preferred the original version.

Zources zay

Bizarre rumor just now: Putin´s DNA proves that he is from Kosovo, is related to Hitler, and has a genetic predisposition to paranoia. Which is why he is hiding his own shit so his enemies can´t test it.

I´m sure this information is absolutely reliable.

Spirit cooking

A rather naïve defense of Marina Abramovic. "She is not a Satanist", says the author, since according to Massimo Introvigne (!) you have to actually "worship Satan" to be "defined" as a Satanist.

Oh.

By the same logic, Adolf Hitler wasn´t a fascist. After all, he didn´t use the fasces, nor did he worship Mussolini. Perhaps Introvigne could be defined as a fascist according to these criteria, though!

The article confirms that Abramovic is indeed an occultist, and has no connections whatsoever to the Serbian Orthodox Church (as sometimes claimed). Her occultism has many sources: Steiner, Jung, Gurdjieff, Blavatsky, you name it, she´s probably studied it. Many of her peculiar "artistic" pursuits are really intended as occult techniques or magical rituals.

However, there is certainly a dark streak in Abramovic´s work, inspired by Voodoo and certain forms of ritual magic. Note all the usual Satanic-symbols-which-aren´t-really-Satanic and yet somehow always ends up being used by the Left Hand path people...

Sure wonder what kind of spirits she´s cooking. Or cooking up.

Realiteter

Ashtar Command förklarar de geopolitiska realiteterna
ur neo-shachtmanitisk synvinkel för en vänsterbliven dvärg

Nej, EBU bör inte slänga ut Israel ur Eurovision Song Contest.

"Men EBU kastade ut Ryssland".

"Men EBU kastade ut Serbien".

"Men EBU kastade ut Belarus".

Spirit cooking in County Sligo

Thomas Sheridan (the Crowleyan neo-pagan and chaos magician I sometimes link to) tries to stay out of the Israel-Palestine conflict, but he clearly detests the pro-Hamas Wokies in Ireland and elsewhere.

Apparently, there was some recent drama at his Facebook page (which I don´t have access to) over Palestine/Hamas and Marina Abramovic (?!).

Nightmare Tales

“Nightmare Tales” is a collection of nine short horror stories. They were written from 1876 to 1891, and originally published in various magazines. The stories are rather unremarkable in themselves, except for one thing: the author is none other than Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, the founder and first leader of the Theosophical Society. The collection was published the year after Blavatsky´s death (or shall we say departure). It´s freely available at the website of the “Pasadena” branch of Theosophy. I´ve read them in a Swedish translation which I picked up at a very respectable venue (I was surprised).

While the short stories aren´t “bad” as in bad-bad, they feel unfinished, although it´s possible that 19th century magazines habitually published tales of this sort. If so, Blavatsky simply adapted to the genre. Most of the stories are about Spiritualist séances gone dangerously wrong. All the usual “Gothic” tropes are there, including mysterious castles, journeys through the Balkans, Hungarian Gypsies, and so forth. Blavatsky was a Russian, so a few horror tropes that are perhaps more fitting to that nation are included, such as Siberian shamans. A strong belief in reincarnation shines through. So does the author´s ethnic prejudices: two of the bad guys are Jewish, one of them an extremely obnoxious brothel madam! Sometimes, evil people or skeptics who dabble in the occult get severely punished by the inexorable law of karma, but some villains actually get away with it. I suspect most of the stories are for entertainment only, rather than edifying morality tales.

A certain amount of mischievous humor shines through in some of the tales. The old grey-haired man on Svalbard in “From the Polar Lands: A Christmas Story” is presumably Santa Claus! “The Legend of the Blue Lotus” retells a Hindu legend with obvious anti-Biblical allusions added (Blavatsky hated Abrahamic religion). Blavatsky´s extreme pessimism is evident in “Karmic Visions”. The most serious story is “A Bewitched Life”, about a vain skeptic who gets possessed by demons after rejecting a Shinto purification ritual.

Not sure what to say about “Nightmare Tales” in general, but it does raise at least some eyebrows that the founder of a New Religious Movement with some kind of soteriological message also penned quasi-Gothic fiction!

A smooth transition

An intriguing news story. Serbia is usually considered part of the Russosphere, but note that Rio Tinto is an Anglo-Australian company! Note also that the controversial mines are lithium mines. Why is the demand for lithium suddenly surging? Yepp, electric cars.

So the environmentalist protests in pro-Russian Serbia are directed against a Western company which mines a mineral necessary for the "transition to a de-carbonized economy". Logically, the Greens should therefore condemn the protests and support Rio Tinto. Otherwise apocalypto or something.

Good luck sorting this one out, girlz and boyz!

Escape from Catalonia

Naakhum is a one-man band or project from Catalonia in Spain, currently based in Serbia. My Catalan is a bit rusty, but I do think they support the independence of Catalonia. Naakhum's music is described as a combination of Ambient, Ethnic Music and Metal. It frequently touches on themes mined from “alternative history”, such as ancient aliens. National romanticism is another strong influence, although in this case it seems to be a Stone Age variant. “Ecofascism” strikes me as positive towards the concept, with the Naakhum's symbol being a swastika within a recycling symbol! This album is a solo project, but Naakhum sometimes collaborates with similar bands, such as Senmuth from Serbia and Oblivious (I'm oblivious as to their exact origins). This is frankly not my cup of herb tea, but in contrast to Laibach, Naakhum doesn't seem to be ironic. If that's good or bad is perhaps another matter entirely…

Saved by the Czar?

"Orthodox Miracles" is a short and very confusing e-book, comprising material from a wide variety of sources. The main stories included are about miracles associated with the last Czar and his family, regarded as saints and martyrs by the Russian Orthodox Church. A rather basic text on Christmas celebrations in Serbia have also been included, and some hymns in commemoration of Mary's husband Joseph, one of which is Catholic! Why a Catholic piece has been smuggled into this otherwise pretty hard line Orthodox material is, I suppose, an interesting question. The illustrations of angels are modern, not Orthodox.

As already noted, Czar Nicholas II and his family are honored as saints and martyrs (or “passion bearers”) by the Russian Orthodox Church (not without some controversy). The main reason is that the imperial family was killed by the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War. One item in the e-book is a modern miracle story. A young couple in Dayton, Tennessee claim to have survived a car crash due to the supernatural intervention of the imperial family, Tsarevich Alexis in particular.

The most interesting piece is a memoire of life in the Soviet Union, written by a woman who was saved from a chronic lung disease by Grand Duchess Maria (one of the Czar's daughters), who mysteriously appeared in her room and even entertained her by reading a slightly frivolous story! More conservative believers may not be amused. The story also gives us short glimpses of the semi-secret life lived by Orthodox believers under Soviet rule. At night, people gathered at the Ipatiev House in Sverdlovsk (where the Czar and his family had been executed by the Bolsheviks) to offer prayers. The story-teller's grandmother was a “nun in the world”, i.e. a secret nun who pretended to be a secular person, but who occasionally dared to wear a nun's headdress. The story takes place in the Urals, to which the story-teller's family had been banished by Stalin during the 1930's (presumably, they were kulaks).

It's not clear who published “Orthodox Miracles”, but the frequent references to the magazine “Orthodox Word” points to supporters of the late Seraphim Rose and the Saint Herman Monastery. The combination of Russian and Serbian material points in the same direction, since the Brotherhood of Saint Herman was originally associated with a Russian Orthodox group in exile, later becoming part of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The “far out” character of some of the material also points, to be honest, in the direction of Rose's admirers. The only anomaly is the Catholic stuff!

Overall, not the most interesting e-book around (and badly formatted, too) and really only worth two stars, although the Russian miracle story could be given the OK rating.
