Somewhat surprisingly, this Hindu content-creator agrees that Hinduism is "pagan". I actually asked ChatGPT what "Daitya Dhamma" means. It seems to be a jocular neologism roughly translated "the religion of the anti-gods / titans" (usually called asuras in both Hinduism and Buddhism).
I wouldn´t call the recent solar eclipse a nothing-burger, but it wasn´t as dramatic as the one on August 11, 1999.
That was apparently the most-viewed such event in human history, since it moved over large parts of Europe, the Middle East and Asia. I saw it from an undisclosed location in Central Europe (hence not from Sweden). It was quite dramatic, despite not being total at the place where I was staying. The sunlight became dimmer and weird, the temperature dropped from hot summer to almost cold in a matter of minutes, and all birds stopped singing, giving rise to an eerie silence. Then, everything went back to normal again!
Thousands of people had congregated around Lake Balaton in Hungary, a popular tourist destination, where the eclipse was total. This included large contingents of Neo-Pagans who supposedly went there to "worship the sun". Ahem, the sun is eclipsed, asshats. A lot of revellers had joined the crowds, as well. The distinction between them and the "spiritual" people wasn´t clear. (Compare Stonehenge at Midsummer.) Several TV networks transmitted live from Balaton. It did look very, very weird when all of a sudden, everything went almost pitch dark!
So what happened here in Sweden earlier this evening? First, only a few people came out to watch the eclipse in my neighborhood. Were the rest looking at it from indoors? The sunlight did change from normal to dim in a matter of seconds, but the temperature drop didn´t feel as dramatic as in Central Europe back in 1999, and some crows were still cawing! On the other hand, I didn´t see any birds actually flying around, and the local cat was sitting still in the middle of a pedestrian walk. The ending wasn´t very dramatic either, since the partial eclipse happened just before sunset.
If you are a privileged White American suburbanite LARP-ing as a Wiccan and feel "offended" or even "oppressed" by the recent conversion to Christianity of Alex-Reads-Tarot...GROW THE FUCK UP.
Doreen Virtue´s friend "Jac" talks about her experiences in the Golden Dawn, or rather a modern American version of this 19th century British esoteric order. "Jac" later became a Christian fundamentalist, so don´t expect any objectivity. Put somewhat mildly.
But...
When I listened to this video, I couldn´t help noticing the parallels between the Golden Dawn system (or this particular version of it) and certain forms of Tantrism. The masculine and the feminine must be balanced, the only way to worship a deity is to *become* the deity, Isis is a symbol of primordial matter (among other things), complex rituals are important and yes, it´s all secret (or nearly so).
Trump´s new appointee for head of the US Navy, a certain Hung Cao, is apparently a fairly fundamentalist Christian. Rebecca Watson (Skepchick) decided to investigate his conspiratorial claim that a place known as Lover´s Point in Monterey has become some kind of center for Wiccans and other Neo-Pagans. Watson soon realized that there were more Christian missionaries in the area than anything even remotely witchy.
Apparently, the closest thing to an evil witch at Lover´s Point is Watson herself, since she´s an atheist feminist and sometimes scuba dives there!
Thomas Sheridan´s take on Operation Epic Fur(r)y. Very far out as usual.
Donald Trump has been replaced by a clone or body double, or possessed by a demon who entered because of the COVID vaccine. The SJWs are zombified at this point and hardly react anymore. Iran has already destroyed the American and Israeli military. Khamenei is a martyr and the Iranian people have been galvanized in support of the regime. This is the beginning of the end of the current global(ist) order.
I admit that I don´t believe any of it. But I suppose we just have to wait and see, don´t we?
Who were the last pagans of Europe? Very interesting (and scholarly) discussion about Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Principally Estonia.
Flashback to my own peregrinations over 20 years ago at the Religious Studies department of a certain Swedish university, where we learned about Uralic religions from all over northern Eurasia.
Interesting detail: it seems scholars have rescued the term "animism", which was considered very problematic during my student days. And the curious term "creolization" is really what used to be called syncretism. Who knows, maybe we can save "paganism" next? ;-)
Neo-Pagans and Magickians are mocking the Iranian regime, which recently organized a burning of Baal in effigy. Which according to Western occultists mean that you effectively *worship* the god in question. Apparently, the effigy was marked with the Star of David.
Styx (link above) points out that the hexagram wasn´t originally a Jewish symbol. Exactly. Last time I looked, the hexagram might also be a symbol of Saturn or of Shiva-Shakti. Let´s hope they like fire!
Overheard on X. The joke (such as it is) is that the presumably anti-Semitic Dugin is a Christian and therefore must believe in Yahweh. Spencer is probably an atheist, but sometimes pretends to be a pagan.
Alexander Dugin:
At some point the Ba'al-elite has only one option: to k*ll all of us pretending that it was done by AI getting out of control. We have to start to fight now. Tomorrow will be too late.
Richard Spencer:
Baal is, by the way, Jupiter, more or less. He’s not the devil, Satan, or a Chthonic deity, like Yahweh. He’s a celestial god. One of the most notorious (and misunderstood) women in the Hebrew Bible, Jezebel, worshipped him. Hail Baal!
Thomas Sheridan argues against David Icke´s "Gnostic" perspective on archons and the reincarnation trap. I admit that I disagree with Sheridan´s "this-worldly" pagan-karmic perspective. The world is at best a shadow of the Divine, and I certainly don´t want to get stuck down here in the shadows. Certainly not for the next 10,000 years or so. And definitely not forever. But Icke comes across as frankly paranoid with the "don´t-enter-the-Light" stuff. Somehow, I´m not surprised that he came up with *that*.
Thomas Sheridan´s Saturday session. Nina Hagen, punk music, the similarities between Scientology and Wokeism, CIA brainwashing, modern paganism...that kind of stuff. He´s in a better mood than usual in this one!
Just when you assumed the California Neo-Pagans and New Agers were the worst syncretists in religious history, the Ashtar Command Book Blog strikes again.
Venkateshwara and Brihaspati celebrates Christmas somewhere in Sweden?!
This little video (from our bro RZ) was more interesting than I expected. It seems on-line Christianity has exactly the same problems as...well, everything else on-line.
Specifically, religious/worldview subcultures. People LARP, or un-ironically change their worldviews every month or so. I´m sure they also come up with new ones, although perhaps not on Christian forums? Maybe that´s more specific to Neo-Paganism or LGBTQ, but otherwise, it´s the same chaos.
RZ connects it to American commercialism and consumerism, which is probably a large portion of the explanation. Add individualism, narcissism, and the (alleged) confusion of teenagers and young adults, spice it with the Internet´s anonymity, and off you go.
Years ago, there was an extreme LARP-er on Twitter who pretended to be a Catholic. He was well-versed in Catholic theology, posted pictures of saints on their feast days, and so on. Then, all of a sudden, he couldn´t keep it up anymore and admitted that he wasn´t even baptized, let alone confirmed?! Pandemonium ensued and I don´t remember what happened to the dude. He seemed quite young.
RZ mentions the liberal or crypto-liberal Emergent Church (yes, I remember them - "oil is a substance"), the conservative Young, Restless & Reformed movement (I used to call them Old, Reckless & Irredeemable) as examples of fashionable trends which eventually didn´t go anywhere. Today, we have the tradCaths and the Orthobros, both claiming to be "based" or what have you.
It´s intriguing that RZ, who seems to be a fairly conservative Christian and frequently attacks other religions and atheism, is nevertheless so irenic towards other Christian denominations other than his own (he is a Presbyterian). Even to the point of saying that it´s better to stay in the same denomination than to go "denomination-hopping".
Of course, my case is different. There! I said it. :P
"There was a time when every tree, every brook, every hill was thought to be alive. The world is a haunted forest. Modern man has tried to exorcize it, but the ghosts still whisper." - Attributed to C S Lewis, but ChatGPT couldn´t find any credible source for the quote, so it´s probably apocryphal. But chilling nevertheless! Fairies?
Are you telling me that the Christian All Hallows´ Eve and the witchie Halloween more or less co-incide with the re-emergence of 3I/ATLAS in this year of the great turning 2025?
You.Have.To.Be.Kidding.Me.
It´s probably nothing, but I will pay *some* attention this weekend...
A rant c/o Thomas Sheridan, but he does say some interesting things. Paganism will come back due to "natural law" and ditto "cycles". The only forms of Christianity that will survive the inevitable downfall of the Abrahamic religions are Catholicism and Orthodoxy, since they are really "pagan" anyway.
There is a certain connection to the Charlie Kirk situation, since some people are trying to use it to pit Christians and pagans against each other. There are also rumors that Kirk may have been privately interested in...you guessed it...Catholicism and Orthodoxy.
As usual, you listen to this content-creator at your own risk.
