Con lang

A genuine language nerd discusses the three most insane proposals for new language families. At least in his estimation! Number three on the list is a proposed "Sardo-Babylonian" family, claiming that Sardinian (a Romance language) is related to Babylonian and Sumerian. Number two claims that Basque and Hittite are related, while number one claims that the Minoan language of ancient Crete (which isn´t even deciphered yet) must have a relation to Hungarian?!

Unsurprisingly, the Sardinian proposal was made by a Sardinian, and the Hungarian one by a Hungarian. Strangely enough, the authors of the second proposal (linking Basque with Hittite) are neither Basque nor Hittite (I think), but I suppose you can´t get everything in an imperfect world.

I suppose these national romantic drafts can at least win the Nobel literature prize, LOL.

The centenarian conspiracy

From a somewhat, ahem, controversial blog. Still, this *would* explain a thing or two. Always wondered about it myself! So the explanation isn´t fresh air, exotic fruit, youghurt or clean country livin´, nah, it´s pension fraud or bad records all the way down.

A bit like the Tasaday, the 100th monkey, the Aquatic Ape Theory, Billy Meier, Sai Baba, Elvis sightings...all the urban legends of my childhood and teenhood.

Or am I just getting old and slightly jaded?

From Sardinia with love

This guy needs an exorcism! Thomas Sheridan shares his stories of demonic attacks on himself. Note that the demons are accompanied by strong burnt smells and electro-magnetic phenomena. Sounds familiar?

Sheridan, a modern pagan, doesn´t believe that priests can help you. He recommends shamans. One of the demonic attacks took place in Sardinia, where Sheridan claims that local witches or "Satanists" are still sacrificing animals at ancient Nuragic sites...
