Thank god for Hollywood

These (admittedly funny) clips show how "Jurassic Park" would have looked like if the "raptors" (really Deinoychus) had been "scientifically accurate". Maybe this wasn´t known back in 1993, but the raptors are still scientifically inaccurate in the new movies of the franchise...thank god! Since dinosaurs apparently looked really cringey in real life, like some kind of big peafowl or something?!

Bring back Boomer science!

October surprise

The release date for "Capturing Bigfoot" is October 20. In case you give a damn. Trust me, *many* people do. This is the documentary supposedly proving (once and for all) that the famous Patterson-Gimlin film is a hoax. That is, the best and most iconic evidence for Bigfoot´s existence. If the film falls, it´s over. Or so skeptics hope.

The docu has already been shown on some film festivals, but the yuge public release will be in three weeks. Apparently, October 20 is the 59th anniversary of Patterson´s and Gimlin´s original encounter with the elusive beast...

Bring out the pop corn, guys.

Sugar-maxxing (Mellified Man was a fruit cake)

Not sure if I like the implications of this, tbh. But it is what it is. Note the speculation that while our brains can´t evolve further, ape brains - at least hypothetically - could still do so. So "Planet of the Apes" is at theoretically possible? The idea that sugar rather than meat made our brains bigger is funny, since it sounds "gay" and "feminist". The sugar would have come from fruit and honey. And fruit could be gathered by females. But sure, Man the Hunter could be replaced by Man the Brave Slasher of Killer-Bees...

The implications I´m talking about is something else. So presumably part of our "junk DNA" came unplugged at some point in ape(ish) evolution, making our brains more complex and hence smarter almost by chance. Oookay. Let´s hope God put that junk in our cells, dude!

Working 9 to 5

Dolly Parton recently passed away. Or passed on? She was apparently an outspoken Christian, but also something of a "liberal", since she accepted the gay community and wondered if reincarnation could be true. So many fundamentalists on YouTube claim - or heavily imply - that Dolly Parton is in hell now?!

Geezus. I don´t mean the carpenter. And oh, she was pro-union, too!

Ye are gods

Some lesser known facts about Stanley Kubrick´s weird masterpiece "2001: Space Odyssey". Note the quasi-religious messaging of both Clarke´s novel and the film. But...but...I thought we were an atheist and secular civilization?!

Night vision

SPOILER WARNING

"Beck - Spår i mörker" (also known as "Beck 2 - Spår i mörker") is a 1997 Swedish film (or strictly speaking a Scandinavian-German co-production). Police officer Martin Beck is a fictional character developed by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö, but the film isn´t based on their crime novels. "Beck - Spår i mörker" features Peter Haber, Mikael Persbrandt and other famous Swedish actors.

And now, the subjective part...

Almost 30 years later, the film comes across as very strange. It has a noir and cyberpunk feeling, but also concentrates heavily on Beck´s strained private relationships (which are much more mundane). One running gag is that Beck always has to break off his planned vacation?! Beck´s constant sidekick Gunvald Larsson comes across as "the crazy cop", while almost everyone else is incompetent. The plot itself was *extremely* unrealistic back in 1997, almost to the point of science fiction. Sweden was a much safer place 30 years ago. Today? You tell me.

Beck, Gunvald and Beck´s love interest Lena Klingström investigate a string of bizarre murders in the Stockholm metro. The assassins have hacked the security system and can turn off the lights and the power at will. Indeed, they seem to live in the tunnels. Curiously, no motive for the killings is discernable and the only clue is a Internet symbol meaning "death"...

It turns out that the murders are part of a computer game called "Final Doom", in which the players have to kill real people in order to "reach the next level". It´s never explained what this could possibly mean, but it´s heavily implied that the teenagers playing the game are actually a nihilistic cult. "Beck - Spår i mörker" ends with an American reporter revealing that a similar string of killings have been reported from New York. The cult is worldwide and presumably web-based.

I suppose this noir film did tap into real fears about the Internet which existed back in 1997, long before most people even had access to the damn thing. Today, we know what happened. Violent cults (such as the notorious 764) do indeed thrive on the dark web. Also, youth gangs in Sweden recruit children on-line to carry out murders. It´s hard to believe that things will take a sudden turn for the better. In that sense, the high strangeness of "Beck - Spår i mörker" feels almost prophetic.

Thankfully, the metro in Stockholm is still relatively safe!

Troy has fallen

Psycho-the-rapist

Thomas Sheridan is...well, controversial. Often coded as Alt Right or even Satanist. But listen to this old video from 2009, which apparently got him banned from (Irish?) public access TV. He sounds like somebody who old fashioned feminists might want to take a bear with!

What happened, Thomas me man?

Zombie Wars

Forget about Jar Jar Binks, here comes Mnggal-Mnggal. And God knows what else! I didn´t know there was an expanded Star Wars universe which included hideous creatures similar to those in Warhammer 40k. Lovecraft´s Eldritch also comes to mind. Apparently, these are monsters mentioned in various Star Wars comic books or perhaps computer games, and they are much worse than the Sith. From galaxies *very* far away...

The commentaries are funny, too, with all kinds of next level Star Wars nerds who claim that the content-creator gets everything wrong, LOL. But sure, a Star Wars-themed horror flick c/o the Unknown Regions might be interesting.

Doreen disclosure

I didn´t know that Doreen Virtue is an alien abductee. I´m not joking. She actually says so in this video. Of course, Virtue now believes that the experience was demonic.

Yes, Doreen Virtue is on the war-path against Steven Spielberg´s "Disclosure Day". She and her friend "Jac" does say some interesting things. For instance, is the deer in the movie really a Wiccan symbol? But overall, it´s all very predictable.

As usual.

The dharma of Disclosure Day

Will religious people be shocked by UFO disclosure? Our man Brad believes that at least Buddhists won´t. For instance, there is an "alien" bodhisattva arriving on a "UFO" in the Lotus Sutra. Yes, that would be Gadgadasvara alias the Bodhisattva Wondrous Sound. Disclosure happened already 2000 years ago, it seems! So what seems to be the prob? See also link below.

The last Boomer propaganda movie?

An interesting critique of Steven Spielberg´s movie "Disclosure Day" (which I haven´t seen). You have to watch the entire YouTube clip to get it. The new "Da Vinci Code"?

Hmmm...

Ickonic

David Icke´s comments on the recent push for disclosure and Steven Spielberg´s movie "Disclosure Day". TL/DR: It´s an op, since the aliens are really evil.

Masters of the universe

I didn´t know US Christian fundamentalists considered He-Man to be demonic. Or maybe I did, but forgot about it. But yeah, there is a shape-shifting witch in the story, so there´s that. I assume the clip above is from the 1980´s? Cultist BS, if you ask me.

Wtf, I love He-Man now.

The lesser evil?

I´m old enough to remember when Glenn Beck was a conspiracy theorist only a few notches removed from Alex Jones. However, in 2016 Jones endorsed Donald Trump, while Beck (who was also wooed by the Don) decided to back Ted Cruz instead. At the time, Trump and Cruz were opponents and in general couldn´t stand each other. Beck, who is a Mormon, even claimed that Cruz was "the One, Mighty and Strong" prophesized by Joseph Smith!

In the recent clip above, Beck first denies that the recent Spielberg movie "Disclosure Day" is a government psy-op. Then, he tells us about an even worse conspiracy, which may threaten our very free will, a conspiracy so vast and insidious that you are literally *being monitored by it right now*...

Yes, that would be the Internet, especially the LLM-AI spectrum. But wait a sec...in what sense is the customized brain-washing we´re subject to now different (or worse) than the collective brain-washing that´s been around since the dawn of Homo sapiens?

I honestly don´t see the difference. Besides, the world is ripping apart as we speak, so it´s almost as if that collective brain-washing thing was the "lesser evil". But then, who knows, maybe that´s Glenn Beck´s real point...

We all need that good ol´ psy-op.

The Order of Caesar

Credit: Walt Disney Studios

"Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" is the latest film (2024) about a post-apocalyptic world in which apes have become the dominant life forms, spouting human-like speech and intelligence. Meanwhile, humans have regressed to a beast-like existence. Or have they? Unknown to the apes, some intelligent humans have managed to survive in underground bunkers and are plotting a comeback as a species, which would threaten the dominant status of chimps, gorillas and orangs.

The main character, the smart chimpanzee Noa, is taken prisoner (alongside his entire clan) by the gorilla dictator Proximus and is faced with a tough moral dilemma. Either co-operate with the still-intelligent humans to save his clan, while risking a new war between apes and unforgiving Homo sapiens in the future. Or support Proximus, whose projected authoritarian kingdom could save apekind by capturing human high tech weapons, but at the expense of everybody´s freedom. Noa choses the first option, presumably setting the stage for a sequel.

There are obvious references to the original "Planet of the Apes" movie (1968) throughout this production, and I believe some scenes were actually taped at the same location. A funny difference is that the orangutans are the good guys. Noa meets the orang Raka, who belongs to the "Order of Caesar" working to restore peace between Pongidae and Homo. Caesar was the effective founder of the ape civilization, but generations after his death, few remember his message of tolerance or his laws. Raka can read and write, and comes across as a kind of monk-intellectual, trying to salvage as much knowledge as possible during the Dark Age. The catch is that the orang doesn´t know that some humans can still speak and have no intention of co-existing with their former circus animals. Thus, Raka is the archetypical "naive intellectual".

Even worse is Trevathan, a dissaffected and weak human who collaborates with Proximus against his own kind. Trevathan also looks like a parody of an intellectual, presumably a fatalistic and demoralized hippie resigned to the fact that his utopian dreams have been dashed. The man spends his time entertaining the gorilla-king with stories about the ancient glories of Rome, until his grizzly end.

While somewhat interesting (*are* there LOTR-like elements in the plot? What about "MonsterVerse"?), "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" strikes me as an extended "Planet of the Apes" fan fic story. I´m not sure if the average viewer remembers all the details from the 1968 film! Still, a sequel might be worth doing. Is there some reason why the main character has a name resembling the Biblical character Noah, for instance? Do the still-talking humans have a doomsday weapon? Et cetera.

With that, I close this review!

A propos Boy George

A small "grassroots" breakaway group from the ISKCON manages to enter a Boy George book signing event without tickets, et cetera. Kirtan follows (of course). Note that Boy George claims that ISKCON founder Prabhupada liked Baccara (!) while one of the devotees say he loved Charlie Chaplin (!!). Ooookay.

Wtf, I löööv my man prabhu now!

Always good to be friends with an excentric pop singer, especially if he is British and hence relatively polite. And no, I don´t have any of the books featured in the YouTube clip. Damn.
