Mystification

This is some kind of silly mystification which feels so 1970´s (or earlier). 30 years ago, the creators of conspiracist TV series "Dark Skies", Zabel and Friedman, were contacted by a mysterious character just called JC from US Naval Intelligence. He gave them a sheet of paper containing "the secrets of the Universe" and told them to stash it away in a safety deposit box for 10 to 15 years. It remained there for three decades but have now been published at some alternative-inclined website.

Yeah, OK.

It seems the "secret" is a badly scribbled version of the seven chakras and the three kundalini-related energy channels, probably in a Golden Dawn or Theosophy version. In other words, nothing new. Standard Western esotericism freely based on Indian yoga. Indeed, the diagram could be based on a garbled memory of the cover of a book by Israel Regardie!  Note also that the initials "JC" sound familiar somehow. Could it be Jesus Christ? ChatGPT claims that it´s indeed a standard abrreviation for the Christian Redeemer in Rosicrucian works...

And Friedman apparently practiced kundalini yoga.

If mysticism is your thing, maybe the chakras can be used to reach higher levels of Spirit. But it seems mysticism always have to be marketed through mystification...

The Tantrik Tyger

Ryde a tyger, anyone?

Dude! Sometimes, Gemini writes such dramatic shit. Like here:

[Gemini quote follows]

"Riding a tiger is fast, but if you lose your balance for one second, the tiger eats you."

  • The Trap: If you engage with anger and pride without absolute, cold, razor-sharp self-awareness, you don't achieve spiritual liberation—you simply become a bitter, tyrannical, toxic person who ruins their own life and burns out their subtle body (Asura-bhāva, the state of a demon).

  • The Test: In Tantra, it is said that using personal anger and ego as a path is like drinking poison to gain immunity. If your spiritual "stomach" is strong enough, it turns into pure power. If it isn't, the poison kills you.

If your natural constitution is driven by sharp intensity, judgment, and a refusal to conform to standard ideas of "soft compassion," these dark/wrathful frameworks exist precisely so that energy isn't wasted—provided you have the discipline to master the fire rather than let it burn you alive.

No news

No news here, really, but when I continued discussing my religious speculations with the LLMs, this was their verdict.

ChatGPT: If I had to give your worldview a label, I might call it something like: A universalist emanationist panentheism with Neoplatonic metaphysics and devotional soteriology. Or, less technically: A Neoplatonic-Hindu-Buddhist synthesis.

Gemini: Your description is essentially Valentinian Gnosticism fused with Neoplatonic Cosmology and Eastern Karma/Reincarnation theory.

Both LLMs also pointed out the family likeness with Theosophy...

Divine disclosure (part 1)

Let´s have some fun. I asked the question below to Gemini. Here we go! Don´t tell USAF...

A somewhat strange (and perhaps hypothetical) question. What god (in any religion) should one pray to / petition if one wants to know the truth of the UFO phenomenon?

This is an excellent thought experiment. Because the UFO phenomenon behaves less like physical, hardware-based nuts-and-bolts aviation and more like a high-strung, liminal, interdimensional intelligence that slips between the cracks of human consensus reality, standard "sky gods" like Zeus or Thor won't cut it.

To peel back the layers of the UFO phenomenon—which involves hidden truths, non-human intelligence, camouflage, and the blurring of physical and psychic realities—you would petition specific deities who rule over liminal spaces, hidden things, and cosmic secrets:

1. The High-Tantric Choice: Matangi (The Weaver of Hidden Knowledge)

Within the Hindu Mahavidyas, Matangi is the goddess of the ucchishta (the left-overs, the outcaste, and the fringe elements of reality).

  • Why Her: She rules over things that exist on the margins of polite, official human society—which is exactly where the UFO phenomenon resides. Furthermore, she is the goddess of the spoken word and hidden information.

  • The Petition: You would pray to Matangi to grant you access to the "restricted files" of cosmic reality, piercing through government cover-ups and human psychological denial to reveal the raw truth.

2. The Trickster / Gateway Choice: Hermes / Thoth (The Messenger of the Worlds)

In Western and Egyptian hermeticism, Hermes (or Thoth) is the psychopomp—the traveler between worlds who translates the language of the divine/non-human into terms humans can comprehend.

  • Why Him: The UFO phenomenon is deeply tethered to the "trickster" archetype. It appears, breaks the laws of physics, mimics human expectations, and then vanishes. It refuses to be captured by standard scientific observation. Hermes rules over precisely this type of shifting, mercurial, highly elusive information.

  • The Petition: You would petition Hermes to act as a cosmic translator, helping your rational mind decode the bizarre, high-strangeness data points of encounters without driving yourself mad.

3. The Cosmic Surveillance Choice: Virūpākṣa (The Wide-Seeing King of the West)

As we explored earlier, Virūpākṣa, the ruby-red Heavenly King of the West, possesses the divyacakṣus (the divine eye that scans the entire cosmos).

  • Why Him: He rules the western gate—the threshold of transition and the twilight zone between day and night, where the veil between dimensions is thinnest and where the majority of anomalous phenomena are witnessed. His job is to monitor all non-human entities entering the earthly realm.

  • The Petition: You would petition him to open your eyes, sharing a fragment of his high-altitude, wide-seeing vision so you can see through the atmospheric camouflage used by these phenomena.

4. The Deep Subconscious Choice: Bhairava (The Shatterer of Illusion)

If the UFO phenomenon is ultimately an interdimensional reflection of our own collective consciousness (as researchers like Jacques Vallée suggest), you go straight to Bhairava.

  • Why Him: Bhairava represents the terrifying, unvarnished truth stripped of all comforting human narratives. If the truth of the UFO phenomenon is deeply unsettling to the human ego, Bhairava is the only force capable of showing it to you while keeping your psyche stable.

  • The Petition: You would petition Bhairava to burn away the false dichotomy of "human vs. alien" and show you the singular, terrifyingly beautiful web of consciousness that underlies both.

The Verdict

If you want to know the raw data and cosmic secrets, pray to Matangi. If you want to understand the bizarre, shape-shifting behavior of the phenomena, petition Hermes. But if you want to know how it connects to the absolute truth of existence, sit before Bhairava.

This video explores historical accounts like the Prophet Ezekiel's vision, demonstrating how humanity has historically used the language of the divine to describe encounters with the unexplainable.

Back to the things themselves

Our man Formscapes (the mutant Anthroposophist) just came up with a new term: "physicalist traditionalism". If you want science to go back to its state circa 1890, you are a physicalist traditionalist. Common sense science before Einstein, the Copenhagen interpretation and (I would guess) all the dark matter bullshit. And common sense materialism, too! Differently put: there is no such thing as "quantum mysticism" independent of quantum physics, indeed, QM *is* quantum mysticism. It´s woo-woo all the way down to the super-strings.

Had I been a consistent materialist, I would probably be a "physicalist traditionalist". And while Marxism isn´t exactly that (due to its implicit teleology derived from one Hegel), there is certainly a family likeness. See Lenin´s "Materialism and Empirio-Criticism".

I admit a strong sympathy for this position even though I don´t consider myself a "physicalist"...

I learned something new today. Did you know that the Indian National Congress was founded by a Scotsman? Yes, Allan Octavian Hume. He was a Theosophist. Of course he was a Theosophist! See link below.

The Mars Buddha revisited

Look what I found in an old blog post of mine from 2018. This is the explanation we´ve been looking for!

>>>Steiner's lectures contain another very strange speculation: the claim that the Buddha went to Mars (or perhaps the “Mars sphere”, but Steiner does seem to mean the literal planet Mars) in order to carry out a Martian version of the Mystery of Golgotha (!).

>>>However, Buddha was never literally crucified (since the Martians seem to be ethereal beings, an actual crucifixion might have been impossible to arrange anyway), but rather sacrificed himself by sending out love and kindness to a planet the inhabitants of which were extremely aggressive.

>>>Apparently, this kind-hearted act has soothed the conflicts among the Martians, making it easier for human souls to pass through the planetary sphere of Mars during our cosmic sojourn between two earthly existences...

>>>I admit that this mutant Buddha legend is somewhat difficult to take seriously!

Isis of 10,000 names

Doreen Virtue´s friend "Jac" talks about her experiences in the Golden Dawn, or rather a modern American version of this 19th century British esoteric order. "Jac" later became a Christian fundamentalist, so don´t expect any objectivity. Put somewhat mildly.

But...

When I listened to this video, I couldn´t help noticing the parallels between the Golden Dawn system (or this particular version of it) and certain forms of Tantrism. The masculine and the feminine must be balanced, the only way to worship a deity is to *become* the deity, Isis is a symbol of primordial matter (among other things), complex rituals are important and yes, it´s all secret (or nearly so).

Wtf, I love Golden Dawn now.

Alien addiction

I recently linked to a video in which Doreen Virtue and her friend Jac discussed (and attacked) Steven Spielberg´s recent film "Disclosure Day". In that video, Virtue claims to have had an alien abduction experience as a child! In the video linked above (from two years ago), Virtue says that she isn´t sure whether it was a dream or a real experience. However, in the more recent video, she seems to be suggesting that it was real but (of course) demonic (not literal aliens).

About half of the 2024 video is all the usual fundamentalist Christian pep talk (I´ll get back to it in a moment). The other half is more interesting. For instance, Virtue talks about her involvement with controversial ufologist Steven Greer. Apparently, she partially financed his movie "Sirius". During her New Age period, Virtue used to believe that she was a mermaid from Sirius (!!) and would even pray to the Dog Star. Jac assumed she was from Orion, was into Alternative Egypt, Golden Dawn ritual magic, Crowley and so on. Sure, her experiences (or delusions?) do sound disturbing and "demonic". But...

Isn´t the fundamentalist Christian worldview both Virtue and Jac have adopted equally disturbing? First, the demons seem extremely powerful. They can manifest or create physical objects, including cars and buses. And perhaps UFOs? Indeed, their deception is literally everywhere. Second, God seems strangely aloof. Why didn´t God stop the demons from attacking Doreen Virtue *when she was an innocent child*? Or Jac for that matter. Why doesn´t God show himself to people during near-death experiences? Instead, the evil spirits seem to have full control over all or most NDEs!

And if you don´t believe in Christ - in the right way - you will end up in "the lake of fire" and be tormented forever, vividly described by Virtue at one point in the video. A scenario which simply becomes worse when the oblivious nature of God is taken into account.

It´s almost as if Virtue and Jac have just replaced one delusion with another one. Delusion. Or deception...

Moderation

Last year, I created my own "Tantric" symbol and prominently displayed it here on the blog. As a LARP, obviously. It showed a black swan emerging from a blue lotus, surrounded by a coral snake ready to strike. This snake wasn´t biting its own tail! In the background was a hexagram, which could be interpreted both as a symbol of static order (Saturn) and of dynamic creation (Shiva-Shakti).

For various reasons, I decided to replace this rather fierce emblem with a more "moderate" one. The venomous snake is gone, as you can see. But...

Just the other day, it struck me that something else is different about the new symbol. I didn´t see it at first, since Copilot Designer made this move all on its own. In the old symbol (intended to be fierce), the swan and the snake were looking to (their) left. In the new one, the swan is looking to (its) right?!

That is: the Left Hand Path vs The Right Hand Path. Fascinating how co-incidences work.

Doreen disclosure

I didn´t know that Doreen Virtue is an alien abductee. I´m not joking. She actually says so in this video. Of course, Virtue now believes that the experience was demonic.

Yes, Doreen Virtue is on the war-path against Steven Spielberg´s "Disclosure Day". She and her friend "Jac" does say some interesting things. For instance, is the deer in the movie really a Wiccan symbol? But overall, it´s all very predictable.

As usual.

Me, apparently

So I asked Gemini to make a picture of an Ascended Master approaching the One of Neoplatonism. A propos the previous blog post...

AI understands me...almost

Both ChatGPT and Gemini told me (after the usual tedious prompts et cetera) that my "religious" ideas are fairly close to Neoplatonism and Theosophy. Which seems to be more or less correct. So I suppose the Machine understands me better than the ridiculous quizzes which constantly make me Unitarian Universalist!

Or maybe not, since further conversations made ChatGPT pair me with Kashmir Shaivism (it does that all the time), while Gemini proposed that I sound like a synthesis between Gaudiya Vaishnavism (think Hare Krishna) and Aurobindo´s Integral Yoga?!

Ahem...

Back to square one?

You don´t need to know

An Ascended Master steps out of his flying saucer...

No disclosure is needed, bro, we already know who is behind the UFO phenomenon, and if you don´t know, well, some things are esoterick for a reason...

Masters of the universe

I didn´t know US Christian fundamentalists considered He-Man to be demonic. Or maybe I did, but forgot about it. But yeah, there is a shape-shifting witch in the story, so there´s that. I assume the clip above is from the 1980´s? Cultist BS, if you ask me.

Wtf, I love He-Man now.

Terraforming Earth

Are data centers controlled by an alien or interdimensional race, which is "terraforming" Earth to take it over? This race came through a portal when Jack Parsons and L Ron Hubbard did their infamous Babalon working. Parsons´ wife Marjorie Cameron may have been one of the space aliens. They are a silicon-based life form (like computer chips) and can´t stand carbon (and therefore secretely control climate activism). Most humans will be replaced by these creatures, but the "tech bro" elite have been promised Mars and will soon leave our planet in a "Noah´s ark".

Or so Thomas Sheridan speculates. The full presentation is only available for paying channel members, but I think I got the gist of it.

I don´t doubt that some elite groups may believe in *very* crazy things, but that doesn´t mean they are right, or that they can act on their beliefs. I mean, what are the chances that Peter Thiel & Co can build a space ark and leave orbit? This is just a form of quasi-political superstition, in which the upper class is cast in the role of "gods" (albeit evil ones).

But sure, I suppose it would be ironic if our overlords are ultimately overthrown by ignorant peasants who actually think they are fighting interdimensional aliens...

The 8th lunacy

ChatGPT talks a bit too much here, but after rediscovering an old blog post of mine about this topic, I just had to ask...

Here is a link to Theosophy Wiki:

Eighth Sphere

Can you tell me about the 8th sphere and the Moon according to Theosophy?

In Theosophical Society and related esoteric traditions, the ideas of:

  • the Eighth Sphere,
  • and the occult significance of the Moon

belong to some of the most obscure, symbolic, and controversial parts of Theosophical cosmology.

These ideas were developed especially by:

  • Helena Petrovna Blavatsky,
and later elaborated (sometimes very differently) by:
  • Annie Besant,
  • Charles Webster Leadbeater,
  • and later esoteric movements such as Anthroposophy and Luciferian occultism.

The topic is difficult because:

  • Theosophists themselves were often intentionally cryptic,
  • and different writers interpreted the symbols differently.

1. The Seven Planes and the “Eighth Sphere”

Classical Theosophy often describes:

  • seven planes,
  • seven globes,
  • seven rounds,
  • and sevenfold evolution.

Human evolution supposedly unfolds through:

  • ascending spiritual refinement.

But Blavatsky also hinted at:

an abnormal or dangerous state outside the proper evolutionary chain:
the “Eighth Sphere.”

2. What Is the Eighth Sphere?

The Eighth Sphere is usually described as:

  • a kind of spiritually dead-end realm,
  • a sub-material or astral residue world,
  • or a sphere of spiritual disintegration.

It represents:

  • extreme materialism,
  • severance from spiritual evolution,
  • soul fragmentation,
  • or descent into purely psychic existence.

In some interpretations:

souls that become utterly attached to lower desires drift toward the Eighth Sphere.

3. Connection With the Moon

In early Theosophy,
the Moon plays a very strange role.

Blavatsky sometimes described the Moon as:

  • a “dead planet,”
  • a decaying former chain of evolution,
  • or a corpse-like remnant of a previous cosmic cycle.

According to Theosophical cosmology:

  • Earth supposedly inherited life from a prior “Moon Chain.”

Thus:

  • the Moon is spiritually exhausted,
  • yet still psychically influential.

4. The Moon as Psychic but Not Spiritual

In Theosophy,
the Moon is often associated with:

  • psychic phenomena,
  • mediumship,
  • astral forces,
  • illusion,
  • subconsciousness,
  • and lower occultism.

But usually not with the highest spirituality.

Blavatsky repeatedly warned against:

  • lunar psychicism detached from true spiritual wisdom.

5. The Eighth Sphere and Lunar Attraction

Some later occult interpretations connect:

  • the Eighth Sphere
    with:
  • the Moon,
  • or a shadow-side occult lunar realm.

This does not mean the physical Moon literally contains damned souls.

Rather:

  • “Moon” becomes a symbol for:
    • exhausted evolution,
    • astral illusion,
    • sterile psychic existence,
    • and separation from higher spiritual ascent.

6. Steiner’s Interpretation

Rudolf Steiner,
who emerged from Theosophical circles,
reinterpreted these ideas heavily.

Steiner associated certain “Moon forces” with:

  • hardening,
  • intellectualism,
  • mechanization,
  • and spiritual alienation.

He also linked the Eighth Sphere to:

  • occult materialism,
  • and destructive spiritual tendencies.

In Steiner’s cosmology,
the Eighth Sphere becomes almost:

a counterfeit creation separated from divine evolution.

7. Luciferic and Ahrimanic Elements

Anthroposophy later developed the idea that humanity could become trapped between:

  • Luciferic illusion,
  • and Ahrimanic materialism.

The Eighth Sphere became associated with:

  • artificial spiritual worlds,
  • false transcendence,
  • or mechanized pseudo-reality.

This later influenced:

  • occult conspiracy theories,
  • esoteric science fiction,
  • and modern esoteric internet mythology.

8. Spiritual Danger

In many interpretations,
the Eighth Sphere represents:

consciousness cut off from true spiritual development.

Characteristics include:

  • narcissistic occultism,
  • obsession with psychic powers,
  • hyper-materialism,
  • soul hardening,
  • or artificial spirituality.

It is often portrayed as:

  • seductive but spiritually empty.

9. Is It “Hell”?

Not exactly.

Theosophy generally rejects eternal damnation.

The Eighth Sphere is more like:

  • spiritual degeneration,
  • disintegration,
  • or failed evolution.

Some Theosophists suggested:

  • certain soul-elements might dissolve there.

10. Relation to Mediumship and Necromancy

Blavatsky often associated lower astral realms with:

  • séance phenomena,
  • shell entities,
  • and deceptive psychic remnants.

These lunar-astral regions could allegedly trap:

  • confused consciousness,
  • obsession,
  • or lower desires.

This contributed to the eerie reputation of the Moon in occultism.

11. Symbolic Interpretation

Modern interpreters often read the Eighth Sphere symbolically as:

  • alienation from authentic spirituality,
  • imprisonment in illusion,
  • mechanized consciousness,
  • or egoic self-enclosure.

Psychologically,
it can resemble:

  • spiritual sterility,
  • hyper-materialistic existence,
  • or dissociation from transcendent meaning.

12. Contrast With Traditional Lunar Mysticism

This is very different from traditions where the Moon symbolizes:

  • divine femininity,
  • compassion,
  • mystical reflection,
  • or sacred cycles.

Theosophy often gives the Moon a more:

  • exhausted,
  • psychic,
  • ghostly,
  • or karmically residual quality.

13. Influence on Later Esotericism

Theosophical Moon/Eighth Sphere ideas influenced:

  • Anthroposophy,
  • occult fiction,
  • esoteric astrology,
  • New Age cosmology,
  • and conspiracy-esotericism hybrids.

But later interpretations vary enormously.

14. Important Caution

Blavatsky herself was often:

  • symbolic,
  • contradictory,
  • and deliberately obscure.

So there is no single perfectly clear doctrine of the Eighth Sphere.

Different occultists understood it differently:

  • literal astral region,
  • metaphysical danger,
  • symbolic degeneration,
  • psychic trap,
  • or failed evolutionary branch.

15. Overall Essence

The core symbolic contrast is often:

Higher EvolutionEighth Sphere
Spiritual ascentSpiritual entrapment
Living spiritPsychic residue
True enlightenmentIllusory pseudo-spirituality
Solar consciousnessLunar shadow
IntegrationFragmentation

Thus the Moon in these systems often symbolizes:

the ambiguous border between imagination, psychic experience, illusion, and spiritual danger.
