Of course there are psychedelic drugs in Hinduism. This is just exoteric/right hand path apologetics. What´s next? "There is no ritual sex in Hinduism"? "Kali has nothing to do with death"? And so on.

Sabine Hossenfelder tries to take Donald Hoffman seriously, but it just doesn´t work. She gives Hoffman a ten out of ten on her "bullshit meter", claiming he´s "not even wrong". Apparently, Hoffman recently published a paper trying to prove mathematically that aliens seen during psychedelic trips are real. I think even people who do believe in aliens and/or psychedelics might find that approach a bit...trippy.
Apparently, this atheist chic takes magical mushrooms. She proceeds proposing a natural explanation to the weird patterns appearing in psychedelic visions. Interesting, to be sure. But note that her explanation is perfectly compatible with pantheism. Here we go again: "spiritual atheism" is either shame-faced spirituality or a quasi-religous LARP. Or perhaps both.
Or as a sixties hippie would no doubt have put it: Dude!
Ultra-super-duper ateista Matt Dillahunty calls out "spiritual atheism", arguing that it´s an oxymoron since spirituality is simply nonsense. But note that even my man Matt de facto believes in...psychotherapy.
The second video is c/o Britt Hartley and clearly shows her peculiar eclecticism. On the one hand, the universe is meaningless, free will doesn´t exist, there is no soul or "self", und so weiter. She even calls herself a nihilist! On the other hand, this is apparently untolerable, so Hartley says atheists should "steal from religion" and become "spiritual" anyway. Which includes both meditation, ritual, community-building, et cetera. Note also the references to psychedelic drugs.
There is also a discussion on patriarchy and gender differences in relation to spirituality. Here we go again...
In other words: atheism (as in consistent atheist materialism) doesn´t work even for atheists. Conclusion has been drawn.
Or just dirty yin? Dr Robert discusses soma, cannabis and astrological remedies in these short videos. Not intended as medickal ad-vice...
Is this "the sly man"? Or maybe not, since "Nathan" just admitted that his former business (selling magical crystals for a profit) was a scam. What if some of "Nathan´s" customers sue him?
Just as I suspected, this guy is a wanna-be "cult" leader. Or "club" leader, to use his own terminology. The most charitable interpretation is that he´s into some modernized version of Advaita Vedanta or Zen. A less charitable interpretation? Think OTO, Franklin Jones, or even Gurdjieff. What is the "power" he constantly talks about? Kundalini, maybe...?
Not recommended.
Gemini´s fantasy picture of the Swedish night sky right now, in which a waxing moon is flanked by the benefics from astrology, Venus and Jupiter. Note the psychedelic mushrooms in the forest! LOL. OK, not as dramatic as my part of town, but funny anyway.
Trump signed a new law legalizing research into psychedelic drugs for medical purposes to help war veterans. Both RFK Jr and Joe Rogan were there. Kind of ironic that it happens now. For a number of reasons...
Were the crazy hippies on to something, after all? Bring baq Boomer science!

A long interview / conversation with Graham Hancock. It´s from late 2024, but somehow I managed to miss it until now. It does contain some surprising information. For instance, Hancock talks about his life before becoming interested in Atlantis and the Lost Civilization. He also reveals that he and his wife Santha had dinner with Zahi Hawass?! Oookay...
Most of the interview deals with topics which will be familiar to Hancock fans (or opponents, for that matter): the Ark of the Covenant in Ethiopia, Alternative Egypt, and the connection between spirituality and psychedelic drugs. And yes, he also discusses UFOs and aliens at one point.
Actually a quite good summary of Hancock´s speculations. For the record, I´m skeptical to the brick-and-mortar Lost Civilization claims, but more open to the idea that alternate states of consciousness gives us a sneak peak into the Otherworld...
Jay Dyer is a notorious controversialist in the conspiracist demimonde, but his take on the Epstein Files is surprisingly moderate (at least relatively speaking). Yes, there is a rather obvious connection to "Eyes Wide Shut". Also: MK-Ultra, the intelligence services, sexual blackmail and paedophilia.
In the last ten minutes or so, Dyer and his hosts go off the deep end with anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, UFO disclosure speculations and such. But since I like to live dangerously on the web, I´m linking to this video anyway...
Some White dudes all but un-ironically worshipping an idol of Ganesha. Yes, it´s Skanda Vale again. I asked ChatGPT to translate the devotional song. It goes: "Victory to you, O elephant-faced son of Pārvatī and Śiva! You are the pure destroyer of obstacles, revered even by Skanda. At your feet, O Gaṇeśa, I take refuge."
I also asked why Ganesh is holding a psychedelic mushroom in one of his hands. The AI hotly denied it, claiming it´s a stylized modaka! (An Indian dumpling often offered to...you may have guessed it...Ganesha.) Apparently, Skanda Vale aren´t into the more psychotropic end of the Hippie alternative commune spectrum.
BUT THEY NEVER ASKED WHAT´S INSIDE THE MODAKA, HUH HUH.
Kidding...

We are entering the Age of Aquarius, which will presumbly last for 2000 years, followed by the Age of Capricorn for another 2000 years. In classical astrology, both these signs are ruled by Saturn.
So for the next 4000 years, the aeon will be dominated by the Great Malefic, the planet of hard limits, karma, discipline and stern law. Or authority without law. The New Age dream about some kind of hippie space age was just another one of their psychedelic dreams.
It´s over.
Yes, our old bro Huston is back. A little introduction to the psychedelic predicament. Far out, dude!
Atheist therapist Britt Hartley (an ex-Mormon located in Idaho) believes - unsurprisingly - that God is a psychological projection created by the human brain. Not only do gods reflect the human cultures in which they are worshipped, distinct personality types will invariably worship in predictively different ways. Some of her empirical observations are interesting. For instance, what´s up with the connection between engineers and Christian fundamentalism - also remarked upon by others? One unexpected fact is that childhood trauma can lead to increased "pattern recognition" and a hightened sense of spirituality. She also mentions the atheism-autism problematique, temporal lobe epilepsy, psychedelics, etc.
Of course, none of this disproves that God exists (or the Divine, or Cosmic Consciousness). At one point, Hartley somewhat sarcastically wonders if God is a shape-shifter, apparently unaware of the Hindu and Buddhist traditions which do make exactly that claim. Cough cough Ramakrishna cough...
My tentative speculation is that God actually isn´t a shape-shifter. It´s just that our believing brain isn´t (yet) equipped to fully comprehend Him. Or Her, as the case might be!
Some kind of "stoner content" I discovered on YouTube the other day. A lot of talk-talk about the late 60´s and 70´s in the commentary sections! What are these guys seeing? Their own lower selves? Or the chaos of the astral world? Or, ahem, drug-induced hallucinations?
The Lords of Karma are deliberating...
Oh, and the CIA-conspiracy angle seems to be click bait.
