Denying the Moon landing must be the most "Boomer" thing ever. I mean, dude, come on. What year is it? 1971? When the Hare Krishna were still edgy??? What´s up next? The face on Mars? Däniken´s musings on Mayan astronauts? Even flat earthism feels old and almost establishment these days, and that stuff didn´t really take off until about ten years ago.
But perhaps I shouldn´t say anything, since I think/hope there might be *something* (anything) to the UFO phenomenon. That started before the Boomers were even born...
We´re all getting older.
NASA says the United States will send a manned mission to the Moon in 2028. Sorry, chaps. According to my man Prabhupada (and he should know, being the Preceptor-Acharya), only those who are spiritually prepared can reach the Moon.
Something tells me NASA aren´t very keen on doing raganuga-bhakti for the next two years, identifying as Krishna´s flute or a blade of grass in celestial Vrindavana. Nor are they prepared to chant the Hare Krishna Maha-Mantra 1,800 times per day after eating vegetarian ice cream at the ashram grounds.
George Harrison is probably also out of the picture. Unless he wrote "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"!
So nah, they won´t go. Conspiracy theorists, of course, will have a field day regardless. And know what? They probably won´t do raganuga-bhakti either...
This could be click bait or trolling, but this content-creator at least seemingly claims that Elon Musk´s Starlink has discovered the infamous "Ice Wall" in the Antarctica. That is, Elon confirmed that the Earth is flat?!
Yeaaah...
So I´ve been looking through the website of World´s Last Chance (WLC), the dissident Adventist ministry which recently created a splash by putting up billboards across the US with the provocative message "Jesus Is Not God".
I was somewhat surprised to learn that many of WLC´s "heresies" have existed before in Adventist history. Thus, the flat earth was a teaching associated with SDA preacher Alexander Gleason, who published a book about it in 1890. Note the similarity between the Gleason Map and the much later speculations of the Flat Earth Society!
The WLC further claims that Grace Amadon (regarded by the SDA Chuch as an important researcher into ancient Jewish prophecy and time-keeping) came to the conclusion that the Sabbath didn´t always fall on Saturdays but followed the Moon. The first Sabbath in each lunar month fell on the seventh day after New Moon (and thus doesn´t have to be a Saturday).
While flat earthism and the lunar Sabbath are extreme or excentric doctrines, on other points the WLC are more mainstream than the SDA Church. The third piece below defends a standard Protestant view of justification by faith and the atonement.
Good luck with this material. I might return to this topic in the near future.
Rejection of divine light by the SDA Church (part 1)
There is a lot of material at the website of World´s Last Chance (WLC). The links below go to relatively short pieces. Since I haven´t (yet) read the longer ones!
I have to say that their polemic against Seventh Day Adventism sounds original. The WLC claims that the SDA Church is practicing hypnosis and the spiritual exercises of the Jesuits, supports the Emergent Church, and denies that the feet of Jesus will touch the ground on his return?! Oookay...
>>>By the use of neurolinguistic programming, Ericksonian hypnosis in church services and supporting the spiritual exercises of Jesuit founder, Ignatious Loyola, via "Spiritual Formation" the SDA church is reaching its hand across the abyss to clasp hands with Spiritism. Roman Catholic mysticism is widely promoted in the SDA Church via participation in the emergent church movement. While some SDAs are protesting this apostasy, the Church itself officially supports it. SDAs teach that Yahushua’s feet will not touch the earth upon his return. Scripture, however, teaches that his feet will touch down upon the Mount of Olives at his return. (Zech. 14:4).>>>
The second link defends the apostolicity of Paul and the canonicity of his writings, but why would such a polemic be necessary at all? I assume the WLC is active in milieux where strongly Judaizing Christians actually do question Paul.
I might return to this in the near future. Or I might not.
Recently, yuge and amazing billboards have scandalized evangelical(?) Christians all over Murica and some have even been vandalized. Yes, the billboards proclaim that Jesus isn´t God and doesn´t pre-exist in heaven. I admit that I don´t really care (I mean, this is just another Tuesday in the You-Ess-Ov-A), but just for the hell of it (pun intended), I looked into the situation.
The billboards are c/o World´s Last Chance (WLC), an anti-Trinitarian Christian group I never previously heard about. The WLC is headed by a former Adventist from Egypt, Galal P Doss, who owns several succesful companies and brands, which presumably explains where the money come from. The group is *very* unpopular among Coptic Christians in Egypt, who claim that Doss tries to evangelize his workforce (including Copts).
I haven´t looked that deeply into WLC´s doctrines, but they seem quite extreme. Flat Earthism is one of them. Another is the claim that the Anti-Christ will impersonate a dead pope, perhaps John Paul II? Or will Francis land in a UFO manned by demons posing as benign aliens? Another important point is a "lunisolar" calendar which supposedly pinpoints when the true Sabbath should be commemorated.
I might return with some more infotainment on this outfit...
Egyptian biscuit baron scrapes prophecy barrel
Flat Earth program on world´s most powerful radio station
Demons will impersonate aliens
This seems to be a breakaway faction from the Seventh Day Adventists, called World´s Last Chance (WLC). They recently scandalized other Christians by large billboards all over America, stating "Jesus Is Not God". The clip above shows an evangelical Christian calling on people to vandalize the billboards! Evandalism? Ahem, whatever happened to the First Amendment, brother?
The link below is a critical (probably also evangelical) summary of WLC´s belief system, but they missed their flat earthism. Which seems to be a central doctrine alongside the lunar calendar and calling Jesus "Yahushua". The second link goes to WLC´s own website. Good luck with *that* material.
It´s 2026 and some people are still spinning Nibiru-related conspiracy theories. And yes, the Anunnaki (or was it Anoona-Ky) are around, as well. Apparently, schools should ban mobile phones, since the evil aliens are somehow influencing Earth through such devices. Or was it the other way around? Something. The idea that Flat Earth is just a small continent on Globe Nibiru is a new one, though. Thank you, I suppose.
Meanwhile, some New Age people worry about "space-ism". Yes, that would be racism against people from outer space, and something tells me they don´t mean Russian kosmonauts! Finally, I have to say that the quality of channeling has gone down really-really much lately, I mean, seriously...
Culture Catz should be commended for keeping us updated about the farthest fringest of...the universe (?).
| - Yes, I´m a genetically modified bee! Any probs? |
Please read the plot summary of this movie at Wikipedia below! Strangest take so far on Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), aliens, flat earth and conspiracy theory?
Can we please stop talking about the Torenza passport woman, Lafufus and Your Party? Not to mention flat earthism. Let me finish my chocolate shake for crying out loud!
This is my 12,000th post, btw.
Hindus believe the strangest things. Or is somebody else behind this laughably amateurish clip on YouTube, which can´t even AI-generate grammatically correct English? On another YT channel, we learn that there are statues of Ganesha in pre-contact Colombia. Here, we´re supposed to believe that there are idols of the elephant-headed god on Mars?!
Any relation to Quetzalcoatl´s big face or the Egyptian pyramids? LOL. It´s going to get really crowded on the red planet soon if every religion/culture/alternative thinker will project their greatest achievements onto its surface. Maybe the flat earthers will start arguing that Mars is flat, too?
The journey to other planets have never been this easy.
Which are the most stupid conspiracy theories? Difficult to say, since the competition is pretty damn stiff. However, strong candidates would include the Mandela effect, flat earthism, the Moon landing hoax, and pretty much everything about Great Tartary and the Mud Flood.
Even "the face on Mars" was "better", since those who believed in it could at least point to photos of the Mars surface where one strange structure *did* look like an alien face. They had pics to prove it. But what the heck do flat earthers have? A Kansas corn field? Sure, I concede that it *does* look flat...
Some of the above conspiracy theories are extremely multifaceted. The Mandela effect includes pretty much everything that has been misremembered or misunderstood by larger groups of people. For instance, that Australia looked different on older maps. Yeah, that´s because there´s more than one map projection, bruh. Or that certain lines in old movies feel "wrong" when the movie is rewatched 30 years later. Yeah, that´s because your memory isn´t flawless. Or because the movie exists in several different versions. Or because you confused it with MAD magazine´s parody version. And what about the Bible? Didn´t the Lord´s prayer use to sound differently? Well, yeah, probably. That´s because there´s more than one Bible edition...
Or maybe you´re a loser who lives in a trailer park together with low IQ White trash? I´m kidding, but seriously, find another hobby!
In a similar vein, Great Tartary and the Mud Flood seems to be a veritable Oak Island treasure trove of misinformation about our past. Was Stonehenge really built after World War II? Were the Napoleonic Wars actually a nuclear war? You get the picture.
I happen to have an open mind concerning the supernatural or paranormal. But if people make up so much shit about natural events, how can I trust them when they speak of supernatural ditto? But perhaps I´m looking at this the wrong way. The fact that people are bad observers and serial confabulators might mean that something unknown, something strange, supernatural even, could be hiding from us. Perhaps in plain sight.
Maybe that´s the real conspiracy.
Can we please stop talking about the flat earth? It´s 2025, fam. Or is every monetized midwit (a.k.a. Skeptic) on YouTube just going through the motions at this point?
Maybe some Biden-appointed judge can issue an injunction and block all flat earth-related content on the accursed interwebs?
Meanwhile, enjoy the ape-imitation content above.
"Planet Peterson" comments a new form of Flat Earthism. Not sure if anyone is even interested anymore, since the Flat Earth conspiracy theorists were completely exposed and embarrassed by The Final Experiment (TFE) last year.
This particular version claims that the heavens are supernatural and therefore cannot be studied by science at all. Therefore all kinds of crazy stuff can happen - including things which seemingly confirm predictions of the Globe Earth model?! LOL.
Yeah, that´s likely.
Here we go again. "Professor Dave Explains" have the latest updates on the so-called Final Experiment and its aftermath.
As many people probably know by now, American Christian pastor Will Duffy took several flat earthers with him on an expedition to Antarctica. The purpose: to prove once and for all that the Earth is a globe. On the most popular flat earth "model", there can´t be a 24-hour sun ("midnight sun") in Antarctica. Indeed, Antarctica doesn´t even exist but is a mysterious ice wall guarded by heavily armed troops c/o NASA or some such agency?! Lo and behold, the flat earthers did see the sun at midnight. As far as I understand, there were three flat earthers present, but only one changed his mind and rejoined the rest of humanity. Note that the entire 24-hour day with sunlight was livestreamed on YouTube, that compasses and GPS were used to prove that the team actually was in Antarctica (and not in the Arctic) and that drones were flown over the area to prove that they weren´t in a studio.
Meanwhile at home (and on the web), the fallout has been *epic*, with most flat earthers experiencing cognitive dissonance and coming up with various ad hoc explanations as to what actually happened in Antarctica. This wasn´t unexpected, but "Professor Dave" hopes that the flat earth community is about to split apart, since every "flerfer" seems to have his own pet theory about The Final Experiment. Some even debunk the worst conspiracy claims of the others! Were they filming inside the Vegas Sphere? Did they build a similar building in Antarctica? Or is a 24-hour sun in Antarctica compatible with a flat earth model, after all? The flat earthers who accompanied Will Duffy are accused of being "shills" or "double agents".
Most original - surprise - is Dean Odle, the Christian fundamentalist preacher who was too crazy even for Greg Locke (another fringey preacher). Odle claims that Will Duffy is a "fake pastor", that many of the participants in the expedition were Satanists, and that Satan himself tricked everyone with a fake 24-hour sun?! Not sure what this even means. Was the "sun" actually a UFO, a mirage, or Screwtape having a break? Odle also believe that the US government can change the weather (let me guess: HAARP?), so I suppose the Devil has many friends in high places...
I think it´s still too early to tell whether this is the final countdown, or whether the flat earthers will eventually unite around a common explanation and simply continue to proselytize á la Marian Keech in "When Prophecy Fails". Odle will certainly do so. But yeah, the whole flat earth thing does feel "so 2015". Maybe it really is time to move on.
Hollow Earth next?
YouTube´s biggest troll and/or resident kook extraordinaire Hans Wormhat claims that Giant Pandas aren´t real animals, but human actors in fur suits?! The reasons are somewhat unclear. Other fake animals include koalas, anacondas, penguins and the Great White Shark. Zebras are real, but probably painted to look striped. OK, so I haven´t linked to *all* of his fake animal videos. But you get the pic.
Great Apes are of course also fake, but in this case, the supposed reasons are at least clear enough. Wormhat is a creationist, so obviously the human primates dressing up like apes in zoos and national parks are paid agitators for Darwin´s evolutionary theory! I mean, aint that obvious?
Apparently, Mike Tyson knows the truth - that´s why the legendary boxer offered to fight a gorilla in the ring. He knew that the rilla was really a non-boxing man in a monkey suit. Tyson knows since he is presumably initiated into the Club, and is really a very muscular female?! Yes, Mr Wormhat also believes in conspiracy theories about transgender or intersex people being pretty much everywhere...
Tinfoil Hat, pardon, Wormhat also claims to believe that the Earth is flat, so naturally the ISS must be a gigantic hoax, too. It´s actually a submersible.
I think I know exactly who is fake around here, but sure, I suppose there is a remote chance that Hans actually believes all of this. Just don´t tell Tyson.
Why do some people believe (or pretend to believe) in obviously absurd and downright silly things, such as flat earthism, that giant pandas are really actors in fur suits, that Mike Tyson is a woman, and so on? One explanation I stumbled across on the proverbial internets is that it´s a "humiliation fetish".
But who is being humiliated? Answer: pretty much everyone. This includes those who believe in the strange claims of the troll, those who know he´s trolling but can´t help getting angry anyway and - most importantly - the troll himself.
Yes, the troll gets a kick out of being humiliated. In other words, the whole thing is a form of sado-masochism.
That would actually explain a thing or two. Once you see it, you can´t unsee it! And it works just as well for true believers in really absurd causes...
