Double agent

"Professor Jiang" is a somewhat peculiar Internet personality who rose to prominence recently. His message seems to be a confused "lowest common denominator" of every on-line conspiracy / alternative theory, which may explain his sudden success.

Unless it´s algorithmic manipulation...

Some conspiracy theorists (!) suspect that Jiang is an asset of the Chinese regime, but Jay Dyer (also a conspiracist) believe it´s more likely that the fake professor is a *Western* influence agent. Indeed, he was arrested by the Chinese authorities at one point and extradited from the country! For unclear reasons, he was later allowed back, which obviously gave rise to rumors that he must be secretely working for the CCP or be a double agent.

I don´t claim to know who Jiang is, except that he sounds frankly uninteresting even for a supposed fringey!

Submission

Orthodox bad boy Jay Dyer calls out the SSPX (or as he jokingly calls them: Ssss-pksss), who were recently excommunicated from the Catholic Church. The SSPX faithful presumably want the Orthodox to submit to Rome, but they don´t seem willing to submit themselves...

Dyer was a supporter of the SSPX for a number of years and his video contains some funny gossip about the society. Are we to believe Dyer, the SSPX is teeming with crypto-Nazis, barely closeted homosexuals and kooks in general. At one point, our man emphasizes that no gay priest ever touched his butt?! Alcoholism is another rampant problem. One SSPX priest had a private collection of German Nazi memorabilia which he treated in an almost sacramental manner. Dyer also believes that the society is theologically heterodox compared to mainstream conservative Catholicism, perhaps in a Jansenist and Gallican direction.

His main argument against the Society of Saint Pius X, however, is their refusal to consistently obey the papacy. Dyer argues at length that according to both Catholic theology and canon law, Catholics are duty bound to follow "the First See" at Rome *on all issues*. Yet, the SSPX picks and chooses which decisions of Rome they will follow, and hence acts exactly like the "modernists" they are condemning!

This is something I noticed, too. The SSPX do next level "lawyering" in order to stay inside the Catholic Church. For instance, they pretend to recognize the Second Vatican Council, but argue that its decisions aren´t binding (cuz reasons blah blah).

In case you are interested in this latest occasion for scandal...

LOL, something tells me this isn´t the correct Patristic understanding of the Great Commission, but what the heck do I know...

Tash is greater

Jay Dyer (!) discusses C S Lewis´ "Chronicles of Narnia", specifically "The Horse and His Boy", seeing it as a veiled criticism of Islam.

Operation Midnight Climax

Jay Dyer is a notorious controversialist in the conspiracist demimonde, but his take on the Epstein Files is surprisingly moderate (at least relatively speaking). Yes, there is a rather obvious connection to "Eyes Wide Shut". Also: MK-Ultra, the intelligence services, sexual blackmail and paedophilia.

In the last ten minutes or so, Dyer and his hosts go off the deep end with anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, UFO disclosure speculations and such. But since I like to live dangerously on the web, I´m linking to this video anyway...

Tagging the paradigm

An atheist(?) criticism of the Transcedental Argument for God (TAG) promoted by Eastern Orthodox apologist Jay Dyer. Not sure why, since presuppositionalism (in this form at least) is a conservative Calvinist thing. Indeed, the video mentions Bahnsen and Van Til.

TL/DR: the TAG is de facto used in a rhetorical fashion to confound the opposition, while never really demonstrating "the impossibility of the contrary". Which may explain why it attracts the more pugnacious kinds of interweb polemicists.

A relatively interesting contribution.

Frat boy pseudo-science?

A Skeptic (and perhaps atheist) criticism of Jay Dyer, the bad boy of the Orthobro interwebs. "Frat boy brand of Christianity" is a keeper.

TL/DR: Dyer is a young earth creationist and presuppositionalist. He actually references an essay by Traditionalist author Titus Burckhardt against evolution. (Our old friend Huston Smith had a similar argument about Platonic forms manifesting in the material world. Perhaps he got them from Burckhardt.)

More unexpectedly, Dyer sounds agnostic on the existence of dinosaurs and even heliocentrism?! Which I suppose is inevitable if you interpret the Bible too literally. Not sure why Seraphim Rose´s name never comes up in the video. This content seems to be a kind of "parallel plot" to the recent drama between Dyer, Professor Dave et al.

Drama

My man Titus

For the record, I *am* following the recent YouTube drama between Jay Dyer, MythVision, Gnostic Informant and Professor Dave.

2026 seems promising so far. I mean, who could have foreseen this?

Look who´s baaaack

Professor Dave is back with all the hot takes...

All is love, mate

Jay Dyer´s *surprisingly* moderate criticism of David Icke. I might have linked to it before, but then as part of a three-hour extravaganza.

This is a 44-minute excerpt in which Jay Dyer spends most of his time criticizing Gnosticism from an Orthodox theological angle. The point being that Icke is a modern Gnostic. Which I suppose could even be true. The reptilians are the archonts, et cetera. But sure, he also throws some David Icke impersonations...

Good luck with this material if you have 44 minutes to spare on a very chilly December morning.

It is what it is, dude

Orthobro maximus Jay Dyer takes on a certain Professor Dave in this relatively short clip. I assume Dyer is a young earth creationist, but it´s still quite entertaining to watch. And yes, Dave is drunk. He sometimes makes hours-long attack videos in which he consumes alcoholic beverages while dunking on alternative thinkers.

Not sure why *this* came up in my feed, to be honest, but there you go!

An apple a day keeps the doctor away

With all due respecc to religious people, this is why I can´t take much of religion seriously. The first clip deals with that South Korean guy again, Kim-something, the guy who claims to have the highest IQ in the world and uses this to promote Christianity on X. Note that the muckraker who fact-checked his claims is an atheist. Many media outlets who run with the story were Christian.

The second clip is about Sam Shamoun, an Assyrian Christian and cyber-celebrity who for some time have claimed to be a Catholic. Except that...ahem...he isn´t. Wut?! Entryism sui generis, or what?

The two remaining clips is from a recent "debate" between Orthobros and Catholics on YouTube. Note that Jay Dyer (the bad boy of the interwebs) turned out to be the *moderate* guy in this truly bizarre conflagration!

Soy and Funko Pops

Eastern Orthodox lay theologian and conspiracy theorist Jay Dyer (the party-clad dude in the lower right corner) discusses "deconstruction" with another Orthobro, who goes by COTEL.

I assumed "deconstruction" was simply a pretentious term for "leaving the Christian faith to become an atheist", but it seems the rabbit hole goes deeper. For instance, many of the deconstructionists don´t become atheists at all, but rather emerge (pun intended) as liberal-Woke Christians. There are connections to the good ol´ Emergent Church. More strangely, one of the leading deconstructionists is a Mormon?!

During the conversation, Dyer and COTEL claims that the LDS Church accepts homosexuality and trans-humanism. And, I suppose, Funko Pops. Is this really true?

The term "deconstructionism" itself obviously comes from postmodernism, and it seems there *is* a connection to this particular mind-virus. Dyer (of course) also believes that there is a vast conspiracy going on, involving pretty much everyone from the CIA and the Jesus People to George Soros and Vineyard. Make of *that* what you wish.

Could be of some interest.

Agent 666

The first half of a conversation between conspiracy theorist Jay Dyer and scholar Richard Spence (the second half is behind a paywall and as usual, I aint payin´). The discussion centers on Aleister Crowley, the somewhat notorious British occultist. Spence believes there is good evidence that Crowley really did work for British intelligence in the United States during World War I. His main target was German intelligence, rather than the Irish-American community. He apparently presented himself as an Irish nationalist to the unsuspecting Germans. Spence suspects that Crowley continued to be an "asset" after the war, as well.

A more speculative proposal that comes up in the discussion is that Kim Philby was a "triple agent", who was really working for the British even as he "betrayed" the UK and defected to the Soviet side. Conversely, Spence believes that anti-Soviet spy Sidney Reilly (one of the supposed inspirations for James Bond) actually *did* work for the Communists! In general, Spence paints a very unflattering picture of the intelligence community. Most spies don´t really care about their fatherland, and are mostly taking care of their own personal interests. Crowley was different, but perhaps for the wrong reasons. He was loyal to Britain according to the principle "Right or wrong, my country".

So Swedenborg was a French agent, Blavatsky may have been a Russian agent, Crowley was a British agent, Roerich was an (involuntary) double agent...

Spence doesn´t think its strange that an occultist is a secret agent. There are three kinds of people who are of considerable interest to intelligence agencies: missionaries, explorers and reporters. They meet a lot of people in far away lands, and have seemingly legitimate reasons for actually being there. An occultist can pose as the two former. Occultists presumably have the additional benefit of not being taken absolutely seriously. The perfect spy! I assume that at least some occultists have a long experience of dissimulation and secrecy (Swedenborg was also interested in ciphers and mnemonics).

Could be of some interest.

Catholic Tantra?

Controversial Orthobro Jay Dyer attacks "histrionic women Catholic saints". In the commentary section, somebody named Walter Flocker comments:

>>>I wrote my PhD on a late medieval Roman Catholic mystical text and that is a major reason why I chose to become Orthodox instead of RC. When you know the tradition well you become incredibly disconcerted by what you see in it. Beguines describing being caressed by Christ, visions of melting into the trinity (no essence energies distinction so RC mystics articulate a literal merging into the Godhead) even accounts of making love to Jesus by the likes of Mechtild of Magdeburg and Hadewijch.

>>>Even classics of RC mystical theology like the Imitation of Christ, which begins with the necessity of repentance, humility, charity etc. (all good things) goes off the deep end in its final chapters, describing mystical union with Christ through erotic terminology. Eroticism, speaking for Jesus, annihilationism (the loss of self identity) these are all common tropes of late medieval RC spirituality/mysticism. When I became acquainted with the Orthodox doctrine of Prelest I could finally make sense of what was wrong with all of this. I haven't looked back since.

Should I or you tell them about the "fools in Christ"?
