"Bakunin
on anarchism" is an anthology, edited by Sam Dolgoff. Unfortunately, few
of the texts included are unabridged. Most have beeen cut and pasted by
Dolgoff, often on very flimsy grounds. Why did he excise points I, H9, N6 and
XC from Bakunin's program "Revolutionary Catechism"? Why not publish
all of it? "The National Catechism" is published almost in full, but
a few sentences have been dropped. Most other texts are abridged as well, and
the editor never explains why.
It's unfortunate that this seems to be the only extensive Bakunin anthology available in English. I'm not interested in Sam Dolgoff's version of Bakunin. Is he hiding something? I'm old enough to make my own decisions, thank you. I want to know the real thing!
Somebody should publish an unabriged edition...
