What´s the strategy, J D?

I have to say that the Iranian regime (of all people) do produce some funny propaganda, or should I say agit-prop. The whole thing reminds me of when the Taliban (again - of all people) mocked Joe Biden by eating ice cream. I have to constantly remind myself that these are supposed to be the *bad* guys!
Note the references to Epstein, to the "split in MAGA" and to Trump´s fragile ego. Note also that social media platforms aren´t censoring the propaganda of the Iranian regime. What a contrast to what happened when Russia invaded Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Trump is threatening to leave NATO, insults the very same Ukraine (which is aiding the Gulf States with drones), uses expletives and praises Allah on Resurrection Sunday, and lets one of his sycophants compare him to one Christ Jesus. More importantly, it looks as if he can´t actually defeat Iran. Or won´t? You would think a superpower could quash the current acephalous Iranian regime. Maybe he really wants to impose tariffs on all traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and split the proceeds fifty - fifty with whatever Revolutionary Guard caretaker emerges to take the bait.
So far, no takers. And probably more propaganda videos...
Maybe Usha should have a little conversation with my man J D? A propos the veep´s recent speculative peregrinations concerning the phenomena previously known as UFOs. Here is some suggested reading (the link goes to another post on this blog).
I don´t support the clerical-fascist regime in Iran, obviously, but I´m not the only one who noticed that their propaganda these days sounds almost "rational", while the mentality of the Trump/evangelo-con faithful comes across as much more religious and fundamentalist. A lot of talk about "the war of Gog and Magog" and what have you. J D Vance´s recent statements among UFOs fit the pattern, although they are probably also a diversion from the actual war (the one against the Iranian regime, remember?). And for the record: yes, I know that J D is a Catholic.
I originally assumed his statement about UFOs being demonic was an AI-generated hoax, but nah, it´s a real interview. Some links below. That being said...who knows? Maybe UFOs are strange somehow. I used to be very skeptical, but now I honestly don´t know. The "transients" seem to be confirmed. Which doesn´t rule out all kinds of deep state shenanigans backstage, of course.
Like this one?
Is this even a true statement from the real J D Vance? And if so, when was the interview taped? And if it´s true, does this mean that a Vance administration won´t send humans to the Moon and Mars?
Asking for a friend named Prabhupada...
Is this AI-generated, or does Vance really dare showing his ass together with *Lindsey Graham* of all people?! You know, the senator who supports both Israel and...Ukraine.
Hmmm...
But sure, Jay Dee, join the Dark Side while you can, LOL.
Vance is a rather notorious Trump sycophant. It seems the Vice President has a sycophant all his own. The guy who wrote "Code Red" (and the article below). Translation: Peter Thiel wants to sell his techno-dystopian future to the American electorate as "populism". Let´s welcome the new techno-populist future! I´m sure it´ll be waaaaay better than the techno-bureaucratic future on offer from The Other Team...
This isn´t going very well, is it?
A new book, promoted by the pro-Trump site Breitbart News, argues that a cabal of globalist billionaires are trying to weaponize the public´s fear of AI job less for various nefarious ends, one of which is (surprise) to push a certain Donald J Trump out of effective office.
Sure, that may be possible. So who´s behind this book, then? Let me guess. The *other* oligarchic tech faction, the one backing the Donald?
The author acknowledges that new data centers are pushing up water and electricity prices for the US working class and hopes/wants Trump to address this problem. Which may indeed be a clever strategy if you want the GOP to carry the midterms, since the Democrats will otherwise hijack this "populist" issue. However, since Trump´s crown prince Vance is bought by Peter Thiel, I can´t say I´m holding my breath...
Please don´t tell me the Dems are seriously contemplating nominating Kamala Harris *again*?!
I have no particular horse in this race (OK, maybe a cute little pony), but if anybody over there wants my advice, I would say that the "best" Dem ticket would be Newsom-Shapiro, while the "best" GOP ticket would be Haley-Rubio. Best from a European perspective, at least. In the long run, we´ll all be dead!
But surely nobody thinks Harris can defeat Vance? Although I suppose there is a slight chance, since Vance - after all - is no Trump. But that can be remedied by the neo-GOP very explicitly making Vance the constitutional place holder for Trump (or Trump jr).
In Sweden, the public service broadcaster is trying to spin Rubio´s speech at Munich as a big win for the European position. Which I suppose it is...kind of. But it seems the US Secretary of State said a few other things in his presentation, too! Too hot?
East Palestine in Ohio, that is. Allegedly. MAGA pretends to be "Strasserite" this week...
MAGA erupts as as Mike Pence tries to delay justice for East Palestine
White Christian Nationalists want more colored babies!
J D Vance wants to expand "Mexico City Policy", halt foreign abortions
| - No, Chuck, I´m still the president! |
Here is the current order of succession to the US presidency. Or rather the five top slots. There are currently 18 persons in the order of succession.
1/ J D Vance (Vice President)
Former opponent of Trump turned sycophantic supporter. Probably weak leader. Controlled by Peter Thiel. Unclear if he can be swayed from a pro-Trump position.
2/ Mike Johnson (Speaker of the House)
Trump supporter, far right Republican, but needs to be pragmatic to make deals in Congress with Democrats and recalcitrant Republicans. Unclear if he can be swayed from a pro-Trump position.
3/ Chuck Grassley (President "pro tempore" of the Senate)
92-year old Senator. Probably a mainstream Republican, but has shown very little opposition to Trump. Would be a purely symbolic figure if appointed president.
4/ Marco Rubio (Secretary of State)
Really a Neo-Con who opportunistically serves under Trump and pretends to be a populist. Would probably break with Trumpism if given a shot at the presidency. But in a Neo-Con direction.
5/ Scott Besent (Secretary of the Treasury)
100% opportunist, openly gay former hedge fund manager who worked for George Soros?! Long-time supporter of Democrats and dissident Republicans who turned pro-Trump in 2016. This guy would absolutely break with Trumpism if given a shot at the presidency. But in what direction? Who knows.
So judging by the above, Trump, Vance, Johnson and Grassley must be removed before we reach the first person we can absolutely count on to break with Trumpism (Rubio). If the Democrats win the midterms, the Speaker of the House will be a Democrat, but even then, both Trump and Vance would have to be removed to make the Speaker president.
It´s hard to imagine an event that could "take out" all these people simultaneously. The bird flu?
So I suppose we all have to wait until the 2028 elections. Or the apocalypse.
Just in: Donald Trump wants to create an alternative UN based on the Gaza Board of Peace. Permanent membership would cost a billion dollars. Trump would be the chair of the new council or whatever the structure will be called. With unlimited veto powers! Oh, and he threatens France with 200% tariffs on wine and champagne since Macron has refused to join the Board. Not clear if that´s the board for the Gaza property development project or the more ambitious plan?
It´s obvious that he lost it. This is no longer the "funny" Trump who was very good at trolling the media with his antics. Something else is going on here. The problem is that his second-in-command JD Vance might be just as bad. Or even marginally worse. One heart beat from Hell...
And yes, the book cover above is Jules Verne´s "The Master of the World", about a brilliant scientist going mustang.
Maybe it really is time for Europe to break with the United States. Or at least become as independent as possible in terms of technology, the military, energy, and so on. Let´s say the Trump Republicans are defeated later this year in the midterm elections. So what? Vance can still win the presidentials in 2028. And the "isolationists" retake Congress.
Unless the Trump-Vance faux populism is completely rooted in favor of the old bipartisan system dominated by Democrats and Neo-Cons (both equally beholden to the transatlantic link), there will always be a risk that the next US administration will turn its back on Europe. And nothing at presents point to a reset being possible. Or - frankly - even desirable.
It´s time for France to step forward and shoulder its responsibilities.
Two other things. The UK will probably become a close Trump ally when Farage becomes PM after a Reform Party landslide victory. However, this little problem can probably be dealt with rather efficiently by France simply reactivating its Auld Alliance with Scotland. So I wouldn´t be too concerned about it.
It also struck me that Europe could become a Chinese ally if China stops the Russian war in Ukraine on terms at least somewhat favorable to the Ukrainians. This would finally make China a great power with a good position to defeat the United States in a shooting war. Not to mention a trade war. I´m amazed that the Trump administration doesn´t seem to see this. Do they want to lose Europe to the "Chinese Communist Party"? The guys in DC clearly aren´t playing 4D chess! More like solitaire. Or perhaps a long con...
