I just stopped here to share
the crankiest speculation ever (and I do mean ever!) concerning the present
whereabouts of the ten lost tribes.
About 40 years ago, there was still a very small sect in Sweden, known as Efraims Budbärare (Ephraim's Messengers). The group had Adventist antecedents and had certain similarities with the Jehovah's Witnesses (denial of the Trinity, literal millennium, etc).
They also claimed – wait for it- that the Swedish working class is the lost tribe of Ephraim, while the proletariat of neighboring Norway is the tribe of Manasseh?! The Soviet Union is apparently “Assur”, and will be used by the Lord to punish and chastise the unbelieving West, so Efraims Budbärare supported the Soviets in the Cold War…
This is almost bizarrely brilliant. If Efraims Budbärare are right, everybody else simply *must* be wrong. Period. I challenge the perennialists to harmonize the message of this sect with that of Advaita Vedanta, Mahayana Buddhism or Schuonian Traditionalism, muhahaha!
But sure, Ken Wilber might do it. The messengers of poor old patriarch Ephraim, stranded on a distant and somewhat chilly shore, surrounded by seals, blackbirds and Swedish gooseberries, were, I suppose, INFRA-red. Even apart from being Reds!
