"Yorba" the Buddha
This is a two-hour interview with an otherwise unknown Hindu teacher, a certain Swami Ganga in Khajuraho, the Indian temple-complex notorious for its erotic sculptures. The interview comes across as rather boring, but I found it fascinating if listen to carefully.
Ganga´s "Tantrism" seems to be an anarchistic and hedonistic form of materialism. Indeed, he positively references the Charvakas, an ancient Indian sect with ideas similar to the Epicureans. Ganga also mentions Gorakhnath, an 11th century heterodox Shaiva and Tantrika associated with Hatha Yoga. It turns out that Ganga used to be one of Osho´s devotees, even following him to Oregon.
It was actually funny to listen to some of his musings, for instance when he describes "Buddhahood" in terms of Krishna´s erotic dance with the gopis, or when he mispronounces "Zorba the Buddha". At one point, Ganga went to a Kumbha Mela festival and "took initiation" from both Maharishi Mahesh Yogi of Transcendental Meditation (TM) and Shrila Prabhupada of the Hare Krishna movement (ISKCON). That would be like joining both Catholics and Lutherans on the same day, or something to that effect.
The cosmic energy or prana is everywhere and really doesn´t discriminate, being available alike for both saint and sinner. That´s unconditional divine love for you, right there. Ganga also reveals the solution to the Zen koan "what is the sound of one hand clapping". At one point, he suddenly starts talking in some Indian language with another guy present! They discuss "astral traveling", apparently.
Since Osho pretty much destroyed the rep of anarcho-Tantra, it seems that being "Yorba" is just as difficult as being Buddha...
And yes, Ganga implies that Osho was murdered.

Collusion Kingdom
"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is a 2018 film and part of the apparently never-ending Jurassic Park saga. As usual, mad scientists and greedy capitalistas (backed by heavily armed mercenaries) are pitted against the idealistic animal-lovers. The problem? Well, the cute little animals include a T-Rex, a highly intelligent Deinonychus (called "raptor" in the film) and really hungry pteranodons! Do the militant vegans have *any* kind of self-preservation instinct, I wonder?
When Isla Nublar, where the dinos have been stranded since the previous film, is threatened by a yuge volcanic eruption, a string of suspicious characters descend on the island. Their mission? To "save" as many dinosaurs as possible - only to sell them at a bizarre auction in California to various black market speculators! Unless the heroes can find a way to stop the proceedings, that is, with some help from Dinosauria gone rogue...
That, and some shit about a genetically modified specimen that can be weaponized.
One of the characters is obviously based on Trump, who was president when the film premiered: Mr Eversoll, who spouts exactly the same hairdo as the Donald, and even colludes with the Russians! Yes, "Trump" sells the secret weaponized dino to a Russian arms dealer. It would have been funny...had it not been a Blue Anon conspiracy theory and another expression of the middle class hysteria surrounding Nr 45. Another character, Maisie, reminds me of Greta Thunberg?! Just like Greta, Maisie is a precocious child interested in saving the world. She also turns out to be a clone ("the strange girl") and speaks British English.
The film ends with the dinos and their allies escaping, this time into modern America, where they make life unsafe for the suburban middle classes (hmmm...) and presumably lay the groundwork for the next film in the series, due to be released in 2022, and provisonally titled "Jurassic World: Dominion".
Perhaps Joe & Kamala can negotiate a truce with the Deinonychi, who knows?

An entertaining attack on Neo-Paganism, but I think Styx misses the point here. What he describes obviously is *Neo*-Paganism, and it seems great fun, too. Surely folk rock and cheap jewelry made in China is better than, ahem, human sacrifice or drinking pig´s blood? And what´s wrong about kitschy Ganesha sculptures, anyway? LOL.

I haven´t read "Hitler Redux", but Richard Carrier´s review is interesting. And yes, he makes a tie-in to the Jesus Historicity Question. Carrier´s own involvement in the Table Talk saga is intriguing, even entertaining.

I know next to nothing about the day-to-day politcking in Brazil, but the article below (yes, it´s from the ultra-radical World Socialist Web Site) is interesting, arguing that the far left PSOL is secretly talking to a far right group aligned with neo-charismatic churches and Donald Trump! How on earth that is a bad thing is beyond me, but there you go...

UPDATE. According to Wiki, Republicanos supported the PT for years before turning instead to the centrist PSDB, so it´s hardly "far right" and "fascistic" in the usual senses of those terms. What a disappointment, LOL. I assume the PSOL is simply trying to replace the PT as the Republicanos ally in Sao Paolo?

As usual, I always get *more* convinced that God (or the Divine, or the Dharmakaya, or whatever) is real when I see this kind of bizarre stuff, rather than less so! But OK, that´s me.
