Another day, another cult

Another day, another cult. At least on the YouTube channel "Ready to Harvest"!

The "Jesus Christians" seems to be some kind of super-duper-primitivist Christians who are trying to avoid taking sides in Churchian theological disputes in favor of wholesome communal communistic living. It doesn´t work, of course, the group cherry-picking which parts of the Bible it wants to follow in the usual manner. Note how they stumble rather badly over the Book of Revelation!

Worse, critics charge that the Jesus Christians (founded by an Australian ex-member of...wait for it) is really a cult. At one point, half the members donated kidneys, giving them the non-flattering nickname "the Kidney Cult". At another point, they pretended to dissolve in order to hoodwink the counter-cultists who were supposedly harassing them.

When I first heard about the Jesus Christians (in a very short clip also at "Ready to Harvest"), I assumed we are dealing with a Children of God front operation. OK, Boomer! Or no? It turns out that the founder of the Jesus Christians *is* a former member of the COG (alias Family of Love). The group has re-used COG comics and is trying to fish (without flirting) in the  milieu surrounding this rather notorious cult. The main difference seeems to be that the Jesus Christians are anti-sexual puritans rather than cultish hippies.

Doesn´t sound very reassuring, if you ask me.

The second clip is about Mennonites (yes, Mennonites) who are using modern technology and a lot of dollars to spread their conservative brand of Protestantism all across the United States. The third clip (not from "Ready to Harvest") claims that Joseph Smith was one of the archangels in his pre-existence. OK, let me guess, this channel is unabashedly Mormon?
